Welcome an insights into what we can reasonably expect for an experience Thanksgiving week, re: Christmas - compared to last year... crowd sizes, open rides availability, restaurants. Thanks,

With 4 times the guests it sounds like the lines on some of the attractions could get pretty long, especially around the cleaning cycle.
If they are going to keep doing the cleaning cycle, which they probably only need to do on surfaces not getting direct sunlight, they should consider closing the queues at that time or putting some kind of notice to keep the queues from getting filled up. Let guests know they should go to a shop or get a snack for example during those times.

Crowd sizes will be smaller (capped at 4000), but there will be fewer attractions: no Italy/Festa Italia/Land of Dragons means that you lose a bunch of flat rides and kids rides, although the number of coasters is actually up from past Christmas Towns provided the weather remains warm enough for them to run with Alpengeist joining Invadr and Verbolten. There’s more info on the event in the “Special Events” forum thread on Christmas Celebration.

Sunlight is not a substitute for real disinfectants. According to the CDC, “Warmer temperatures and exposure to sunlight will reduce the time the virus survives on surfaces and objects.” So, sunlight helps, but will not suffice to keep the touch points COVID-free.

Per the guidance

Is the area outdoors? Outdoor areas generally require normal routine cleaning and do not require disinfection. You should maintain existing cleaning and hygiene practices for outdoor areas.

I was objecting to your assertion that, “probably only need to do on surfaces not getting direct sunlight.” I didn’t say anything about indoors vs outdoors.

Does this mean Christmas Celebration will be cancelled?

"Under the new restrictions public and private gatherings will be limited to 25 individuals..."
Public and private gatherings are things such as house parties or picnics, not businesses. The 250 number was pretty ridiculous, particularly when you compare it to the restrictions BGW had.

I'm wondering what the park would do if they had to drop back down to 1,000 person capacity. I find it hard to believe that would happen so soon after the increase, but it seems like a real possibility now.

I don't mean right now, I mean in the future. With more people traveling and getting together around the holidays it's a very real possibility that restrictions could be further tightened.

Possibly! But right now this is very much targeted at bars/restaurants (returning to where Hampton Roads was during its peak), enforcement for all businesses (which BGW is in fine position to handle), and private gatherings (which doesn’t apply to commerce).

I think the current change we might see is abandoning opening Festhaus. It’s notable to me that there are no maps in the park as of yet - they might feel like the current situation is too fluid.

The important thing to remember is that these new restrictions had no effect on the capacity guidelines for businesses. It only effects the time past which alcohol can be served for them.

Looking ahead to 2021, from here: https://www.dailypress.com/virginia...1fa6XF4vtgjW2ocnEbsQ1dG4MPG7s8mXZUeCAyv6TdYJA

View attachment 21491Seems likely that given current trajectories, we might be seeing morning/evening sessions through March/April, with the hopes that a vaccine will allow for a normal summer season.
I think it will be a little bit earlier than mid March actually. Although, they might just consider it an extension of the 2020 season.

But that's all I have to say on that right now. ?

It looks like the only change in the VA executive order for BGW and KD was that private bookings are now limited to 25 people, which shouldn't impact too many things, and definitely not normal operations.

For other entertainment and amusement businesses, they got bumped down to 250 people from 1000 which I'm sure will be an issue for some of those affected.
