Indirect, but... one of the guys in my hall. Where his brother works, one of his (the brother’s) colleagues appears to have tested positive. Anthony (my colleague) came into work today, but immediately went home once he got the news. Goddard is not yet on mandatory telework, however today they announced they are now allowing any employee who wants to (and who can) to telework if their supervisor agrees. I don't think any supervisor would disagree to that right now. I'm starting telework tomorrow. I just hope it isn't one day too late....

Is there data that says that it can’t survive in very hot climates? I didn’t think we knew enough about COVID-19 to make confident assessments about it yet.
While FAR from proven there was a noted slower spead rate in hotter and more humid areas. But from what I have read there are any number of theories as to why ranging anywhere from the heat slows the spread to the heat causes people to behave differently which slows the spread. And all of that of course is preliminary.

It can survive on surfaces for up to 3 days at 37 degrees Celsius or 98 degrees Fahrenheit (longer at colder temperatures). Plus remain airborne for up to 30 minutes. Studies were released last week in Practical Preventive Medicine. Most epidemiologists are saying minimal seasonal variations.
That makes total sense to me...I don't know a single person that likes a warm/hot Corona ?

VA is urging municipalities to put limits on large public gatherings. It’ll be interesting to see how BGW and KD react.

Update on Disneyland Resort Operations

While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Disneyland Resort, after carefully reviewing the guidelines of the Governor of California’s executive order and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, beginning the morning of March 14 through the end of the month. The Hotels of Disneyland Resort will remain open until Monday, March 16 to give guests the ability to make necessary travel arrangements; Downtown Disney will remain open. We will monitor the ongoing situation and follow the advice and guidance of federal and state officials and health agencies. Disney will continue to pay cast members during this time.

Disneyland Resort will work with guests who wish to change or cancel their visits, and will provide refunds to those who have hotel bookings during this closure period. We anticipate heavy call volume over the next several days and appreciate guests’ patience as we work hard to respond to all inquiries.

Regarding a possible summer slow-down. The WHO isn't saying that:

So far the evidence is that it spreads in hot and humid climates. If this thing keeps going all year, then before a vaccine is finished this could be pretty dire throughout the world. In the US *reported* cases have been doubling every 2 to 3 days. And that's just reported cases. We know they aren't testing most people, so many cases are unreported. If that keeps up, well, ugh.

They aren't testing because there aren't enough of those "wonderful, perfect" tests the CDC is supposed to be providing.

SeaWorld Orlando is currently doing a "staycation" sale for Florida residents. Assuming that there isn't any confirmed cases that are not already under quarantine(as far as I know) having the park be open and attractive for the locals doesnt sound like a bad idea.

I think it is important to highlight that this new study has not yet been peer reviewed. So, the findings are only preliminary. It is possible that the methodology or results will not stand up to scrutiny.

Yeah, everyone is going to have to announce delays/closures tomorrow. With the Disney parks on both coasts closed, it's just a PR nightmare for other parks to keep trying to push ahead.
