Many regional parks can open sooner than Disney I imagine. Disney is very reliant on out-of-market customers and staffing. That is far less true for smaller, regional parks.

Anyway, with Georgia about to reopen many businesses, do we think any of GA’s parks will follow? I think either of the Atlanta-area FECs (Fun Spot Atlanta & FunXcess) could very well open their doors soon. There hasn’t been any mention of a reopening yet from Fun Spot Atlanta that I could find. FunXcess’ website is down right now so I gave them a call and was told that a decision hasn’t yet been made.
I've been on this train from the start. Parks reliant on more interstate travel and resort like stays are in more trouble from a timeline perspective. Smaller parks are going to be able to target opening to a sub-group much easier without having something unexpected.

Do we get a prize for calling Disney to be one of the last to open?

Disney is opening in the following order: Magic Kingdom & Animal Kingdom July 11th, Epcot & Hollywood Studios July 15th

There was no talk about when resorts would reopen. And they will follow Shanghai's approach with advanced reservations being required before arriving.

@warfelg To be fair, Disney is the only park opening so very late. Most all other attractions and parks are aiming for early to mid June.

Our commentary was less when it will open and more the timing. At that point of time lots of posters were commenting Disney would open its parks first and everyone would follow. I commented Disney would be one of the last because it relies on so much out of state and country tourism while regional parks rely more on local visitors.

Im guessing they are holding off on resorts so they have the option of using them for the NBA and at the time dont know hw many they will need.

Anyhoo....I now know my 2nd and 3rd Disney trip during this is now canceled. On a positine note though I now have a 10 day Central Florida vacation to Universal, Seaworld, Kennedy Space and other places and not feel like im missing time at Disney.

@warfelg I concede, that you would be right in regards to Disney specifically; however, the logic is a bit askew. If that was truly the case, Universal (who is also strong dependent on tourism), would also be opening late.

@b.mac I was specifically referring to Florida. I haven't kept up much with other states or parks; however, I think Florida is the only state that has pushed this far along with reopening.

@WDWRLD When the deal was solidified for the NBA to setup at ESPN WWoS, it is very likely one of the deciding factors in the deal would have been how much resort space would be needed. That said, you may be accurate. I would also guess that the meeting is focused on reopening parks and not necessarily hotels and resorts which is probably why we didn't hear anything as well.

I doubt parks will soft open. They were required to submit final plans to the task force and governor for approval. I don't believe it would be legal or at least it would not be very appropriate to withhold those details from the government.

They did; however, say that cast member previews will take place approximately a week prior to July 11th.

He specifically mentionsed soft previews at 59:00.

He also specifically said the week prior to July 11th and specifically mentioned previews for Cast Members and Legacy (I'm not certain what legacy referred to, but I believe that was meant for pass holders).

I do not expect and do not think anyone else should expect any type of preview prior to July 5th.

12 resorts open on June 22nd, they have to have something for all those people to do. Could legacy be reservation on the books prior to todays anouncement?
