RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Looks like a new tour was added:

Holiday Decoration Creation - Take a brief guided tour to examine some of our best container designs. With that, you'll be ready to choose from an exciting array of plant materials harvested from the Busch Gardens landscape to create an arrangement suited to fit your unique needs.

$30 per person plus you get free parking in the Team Member parking lot during the tour.

OK. Just watched the ad. Sorry to be a Grinch, but what I took away from it was that BGW will be happy to assist you in deflecting reasonable, scientifically-based questions from your apparently older children about Santa Clause. Did I miss anything?

Yes. And for some reason I only see it when I log into the regular BGW site, not the CT site member area.

fsd?

Two person minimum; must be 18 and older. I couldn't do this with my baby if I wanted to. :(
But, I have a question...it says you can park in the TM area for the duration of your tour. Does this mean you really have to leave and go to the regular lots, England, whatever, when it is over? THAT could be a problem; especially on a busy day.

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Actually, when you go to leave you can turn right and go straight to the England lot with no hassle. The only thing is if it is busy you may have a hard time finding a spot. Or if you kept straight you can go to the other lots. Personally, I am not sure what they want you to do. Asking is always the best thing to do.

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Well, for the 9 am tour, you'll probably have to leave the park completely, as the tour is only 2 hours. Maybe go get lunch at a pancake house or something before coming back for CT.

So, I'm guessing that for the 9 am tour, they won't make you pay for parking.

But, the 1 pm tour ends at 3 pm. Will they really make you leave the park to move your car to a different lot?

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Well considering it is kind of a lon dangerous walk to the front gate from the team member parking lot I can see why they would want you to. To be perfectly honest I do not believe you actually go inside the park at all for this tour. I believe you just stay outside the actual park's fence and tour the greenhouses near the team member parking lot.

This would explain it, then. So, if one were to do this tour, I would recommend the 9 am tour, and then go out for lunch before coming back for CT.

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Only a couple singers remain from the original 2012/2013 cast to continue in Christmastown. Several of the musicians that remain have been placed into different roles. The real question is will Santa also be replaced by more NYC Broadway C-list talent or will they leave Santa alone? This event has had the perfect Santa.

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Santa should remain the same, shows rehearsal I heard n seen are very lacking.
Hope all gets on track, but area changes though small, you will see some Non SG GLITTER eye catchers. BGT Is improving for this year, hopefully new people ideas on track will MAKE YOUR CT TRADITION feel you wit HOPE for BGW and some changes

Question:

One family trip to CT. Parents, grandparents, 9 yr old boy. We make time for one show. Which one should we choose, and why?

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Honestly it's going to come down to how each is performing this year. Personally I think all 3 Christmas Town shows are just about on-par if you were to distill them down to their basic elements and remove the casting variables and whatnot. They're all very good shows. Last year I was a avid Deck the Halls fan- I thought the entire cast performed their parts brilliantly. Unfortunately, a good chunk of last year's cast is gone leaving me very weary of Deck the Halls this year. We'll see what happens. :-/

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Without touching on the quality or anything else about the shows themselves, here are some other variables to consider:

Gloria - indoors, can be difficult to get a seat. Try early as possible in the day or be prepared to wait a bit.

Miracles - outdoors, can be very cold. Performance can be affected by the weather. Usually heaters situated around the sitting area for your "comfort". Venue will probably fill up, but show up 15 minutes or more early for good seats. Venue also a place to eat.

Deck the Halls - indoors, lots of seats but can fill up quickly. Venue is a place to eat.

So basically, ask yourself if you mind be cold & exposed to the elements, and do you mind waiting in lines and/or showing up early (burning valuable time). And, are you hungry?

Also, there is the O Tannenbaum "show" just outside the Festhaus. It usually is timed well with Deck the Halls. :)

My son is already asking if he can have is picture taken with Frosty. Any news if he will be there for pictures this year, and if so, where?

Thanks

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Deck the Halls to me is a standard nice Christmas show, I enjoy it and never mind seeing it multiple times.

I can't remember Gloria and I may have missed it last year.

Miracles was generally disliked by my family for some reason. Our group ranged in ages from 23-60s and we were all pretty bored and we actually realized that we were being rude and talking too much so we left halfway through.

So, in conclusion, I may have the attention span of a 9 year old, so Deck the Halls may be best bet.

O Tannenbaum is definitely fun and short so you should try to catch it.

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Just to note, O Tannenbaum typically goes off for 7 minutes every 30 minutes starting at about 5:30pm
