RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

The flats don't really command crazy lines to warrant staying open the extra hour. On a crazy busy day, they might but the crowds are consistent to the point where the park is pretty much a ghost town at the beginning and end of the event. You can use that time to make runs on the swings, bumper cars, teacups, Battering Ram, Tradewinds, etc (and in many cases, marathon them).

I actually think it's neat seeing the park in the day too, especially if there is snow.

The Banbury Crossing Carolers will be back, CK, but not the Killarney Village Trio; and as far as I know at present, not the Herald Angel Brass Band in Holiday Hills, either. The outdoor music duos are kaput.

That is a shame as I enjoyed the Herald Angel Brass Band. Don't remember if I saw the group in Ireland. Are these two group's disappearances related to the problems earlier in the season?

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Please tell me something is replacing the Herald Angel Brass Band, if it is truly gone. My main concern is Holiday Hills was such a huge hit last year, they really did amazing with the place but with the removal of the photo ops, and now this the place is going to start getting empty. I get the Frosty pictures being replaced by the Coke stand (which I am hoping for amazing decor for CT) but Gingerbread Snaps and the band basically made that back area with Dasher's Diner. Now there is no reason to go back there except for the diner.

Something I just noticed, in 2009 the RPT and the Wild Reserve were both listed on the map, but were complete removed in 2010.

Would someone tell me what "North Pole Outpost" and "Frost Bites" are?

Don't quote me on this but I'm assuming that the frost bites are where they usually make the donuts holes on the temporary stand, but since the F&W Permanent Booth is there now, this may be what it is for and maybe some added things. I am also assuming that the Outpost is just a Christmas overlay for what is normally there....maybe?

Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Yes the Vesuvius Grille the new permanent snack stand will be transformed into Frost Bites for Christmas Town.

As for the North Pole Outpost, from my understanding the Alpengeist plaza area has been closed off each season, except for when the coaster was open. I believe in an effort to open up the gift shop, the other entrance to the drink shop and an additional game, they will probably just open the plaza area with a few decorations so that it isn't just empty and awkwardly there.

Considering Rhinefeld is technically a hamlet overlay (much like a Terror-tory) of the North Pole, it would make sense for them to theme the Alpengeist plaza area to the North Pole as well.

BGWFANS overanalyze ad in 3...2..1...:p

Let me start it off by saying I like the subtle logo at around 19 seconds.

I swear I have seen that adds like weeks ago already. I wonder where they filmed it, the part with all the Christmas trees and snow.

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

I will be going to CT for the first time on Friday, December 6th with my wife and two young girls. I have a couple of questions which may seem too picky but folks here seem fairly particular:

1) How busy will a Friday be?
2) Are there any coupons available at Food Lion, Wendy's, etc?
3) Can you get the hot chocolate without the peppermint stuff?
4) Are there any of those snow machines that make synthetic snow used in the park?

Thanks, JB

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

1) Based on history, it shouldn't be too crowded.
2) Check out the Deals and Discounts thread under everything else, I have all those posted there and update it when I hear of something new.
3) Yes, there is the Christmas Town Hot Chocolate, Christmas Town Peppermint Hot Chocolate, and Giardelli Custom Hot Chocolate served in the park.
4) Yes, the North Pole (Rhinefeld in Germany) and Aquitaine, France both have snow falling from the sky; however, the snow is more like bits of foam and can create slippery pathways so be careful.
