We tried to get into the Festhaus around 6:15. It was fenced off, and we were sent to a holding area around the side, and told we might get in around 7PM. We walked to Trapper's and were pleased with our usual Smokehouse Sampler. They also had the turkey dinner, which looked good, and some delicious-looking BBQ sliders.

If it's a busy night and they have people going in on the side, go through the bathrooms. Saves time and you don't have to wait for seating! :D

Just to note the park has had a very empty weekend. So far the numbers I have heard this weekend as far as attendance goes is:

FRI - 2K
SAT - 7K
SUN - 3K

Very low numbers is all I have been hearing all weekend. You can speculate the reasons why or how, but when it comes down to it, that is just the way the cookie crumbles.

Well I just left. Park was still open but a ton of things were closed cause of the low attendance. Still had a good time though.

I think it's empty because it's not even thanksgiving yet. I have personally heard people say they aren't going yet cause it's too far away from Christmas.

They never really told the GP that they were opening this weekend so they never came out. Once again lack of advertising, I'm sure if the park put out commercials and ads earlier this month saying that they were opening this weekend, then I'm sure they would've had higher attendance numbers. Don't worry it'll be packed as usual next weekend.

I went for a few hours today. It was VERY cold, to the point it wasn't much fun. The wind didn't help much either. If you stayed at home you were one of the smart ones.

It was dead tonight. It seemed like there were more employees walking around in red coats than guests.

I tried the Turkey Dinner Friday night at Festhaus. It was okay. I got the sausage sampler tonight with taters and stuffing, and it was good. Hard to go wrong with their sausage. The roll was stale and the stuffing on the cold side, but I ate it...

I tried the sausage outside Trappers Friday night. I must say it wasn't much bigger than a cat turd, but being cooked on the grill outside, it was tasty.

Hit the wine tasting too. Grabbed 3 bottles for the holidays as well.

When I walked in Festhaus Friday it was packed. I walked right out, went to Verbolten, and sat in the front row. Gotta know how go work these crowds on the slow days :)

I'm starting to think the park saw the week before Thanksgiving as another few days to make money, and it's becoming the opposite (wasting budget). The thing is, the past few years industries across the board (entertainment, media, retail), have decided to start infringing so far into Thanksgiving territory that they're trying to skip the holiday to begin with. It's been going on for years now, but this year its more apparent than ever, what with the 8 pm Thursday night doorbusters. Didn't really think it was possible but, it seems as if retail is beginning to kill (or at least maim) a holiday that they see no possibility for cash flow in.

Sorry for the rant. Oh and the numbers are crap also because of advertising. The only time I've seen the promo was on youtube, and I clicked on it myself.

We went yesterday, and it was glorious. Low crowds, easy access, wonderful interacting with employees. The shows, as usual, were outstanding. We had a delicious turkey dinner at the warmest building in the park and watched two "Deck the Hall" shows back to back. We didn't even have to wait to see the penguins.

I agrees with the others posts, it appeared that the staff outnumbered the guests. Some sections of the park were completely empty. New France (by the Caribou Station)and way back by Dasher's Diner were dead zones.

These are days a BG that I look forward too.

I did see a combined CW and CT ad on TV this weekend, here in Arlington. I didn't notice any CT dates, however.

I would imagine most people don't think about a Christmas events until after Thanksgiving. Honestly, I think holiday season creep is out of control anyway: I started seeing Christmas stuff in stores before Halloween. On principle, I won't wrap presents, decorate my house, or attend holiday events until after Thanksgiving is over. And I doubt I am alone in this. That said, my Christmas shopping is 95% done.

Also, you couldn't have paid me enough money to be outside yesterday.

$17 but please, please, please don't eat there. Luke and I went last night. Utter and complete garbage. Shame too because last year it was rather grand.

By the way, it should be noted that there is no ham at this year's event. No, I don't understand it either.
Such a shame. Check out the page for Dasher's Diner...

Clearly indicating that glorious, carved ham will be served.
