How long did This is Oktoberfest last? :p
39 years but that was a classic. Classics need to last as long as possible. Ignoring TIO no shows have last longer than 8-10 years. (Correct me if there are any other exceptions)

However, the park wouldn't dare touch the show, because they haven't had any show good enough to match up to or exceed this one.

I doubt they haven't touched it because of quality. It is more likely because they spent a fortune on London Rocks and Entwined not to mention a new special event (F&WF) since CFs opening year.

Pirates 4D lasted a pretty long time too. And Pet Shenanigans

Saw the show for the first time in 2 years last weekend. Still the best regular season show. Story flows a little better with the transitions now. Renovations make the theater in general look a whole lot bigger.

So I saw this trying to avoid the rain today. There was a swing in for one of the Americans, but it was the female swing. She had a costume all made and everything, and was a great dancer. Naturally though, the part wasn't made for her. But it got me thinking, what if they did a man and woman for the American parts permanently? Now that they aren't friends of the bride anymore, it could easily work, and in the dance battle part, instead of having two guys vs. two guys they could have a Woman vs. a Woman, and a Guy vs. a Guy. That way all styles of dancing in the show could be shown off all at once. I don't know, just something that I thought could make the show a little fresher and different.

Even though the show is fantastic and this was the first year I saw it, I hope Phil goes over it considering next year will be it's seventh year in the Abbeystone.

I'm pretty sure that is a permanent change...

No, that ending part was all hypothetical. The swing in today was as normal as it would've been with the two male Americans, nothing has been changed. There were still two male Irish dancers and everything.

I dont like all the cast member changes to the show, but the show itself I love. Sure miss the dogs in the show also. Now with the female tap dancer wonder what other changes we might see in the show this year. I am glad its back, but do miss Rachel and Scott...

I like the female tap dancer. My only complaint is that I feel like the old male dancer had more "swagger" to him that worked well in the dueling scene (and prompted some nice laughs from the crowd). It is early in the season though and I think she will better cement her place in the show as the year progresses.

On another note, I noticed while watching the show this weekend that the crowd engagement is always fantastic in Celtic Fyre. No matter how many changes I have seen over the years, the cheers from the crowd are always astounding as people seem to love the show no matter what occurs. I think that is just something about Irish music that is just really fun and exciting to people and made me realize that although it is an old hat to me, most people probably have never seen River Dance before and BG is providing them with a unique opportunity.

Even if London Rocks was an option, I'm sure the park would say "Vote for Celtic Fyre!". Even they know that they haven't been able to produce such a successful show since then (maybe with the exception of "Scrooge No More!").
