RE: BGW's Facebook Page

Busch Gardens shared Ervin Stallings's photo.
Great ride photos like this (thanks to fan Ervin Stallings) are a cool way to remember your visit. Now through the end of May, we have a sale on those photos. Just buy one at the regular price and you can get three extra for just $5 each. It's a great deal for a family or a group of friends.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

The park is open!! We are so fortunate to have this wonderful opportunity in our area! I love being able to visit the many different areas, not to mention the great food. I would encourage park management to be mindful of the neighbors by playing music at a reasonable decibel level and responsible hour. Thank you in advance.

Seriously, their worried about sound?

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

Their was a guy who posted on the FB page a few weeks ago complaining about the ticket prices. He kept referring to BGW as a "neighborhood park". I assume he lived close to the park.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

I think the ticket prices are very reasonable considering how expensive Disney is. I went for a vacation in Florida and that was a very painful drain on the wallet. Busch Gardens is not cheap by any means, but still.. I cannot say their prices are that far over the top considering.

I think when people find the coupons and take advantage of deals like the fun card.. or even break payments up for season passes and the like.. take picnic lunches instead of eating at the park and drinking ice water instead of sodas (like we did growing up), you save money and make things more affordable.

It is all about priorities too. When I was just moving out on my own, I had no extra income. I had college loans, car payment, rent, utilities, insurance, medical expenses, and so forth. I ate cup o' noodles and soup pretty much everyday, hardly ever ate out at a restaurant, had basic cable, pay-as-you-go phone, basic internet connection, and only used heat and AC on the lowest possible settings. I did this so I could pay for my season pass and gas for my car. It sucked, but hey- that's life.

I didn't go out to the movies or even buy a DVD.. I wanted to visit Busch Gardens more and so I didn't whine about the situation- I just dealt with it and made a decision. And even if I couldn't afford Busch at the time, of course I would have been sad.. maybe even tried to save a little for the next season.. but I wouldn't blame the park.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

I think the ticket prices for Busch Gardens are very fair, Annual passes are what like 120.00 a year. Our family of three is 360.00 a year plus what we spend for Christmas Town. I think if tickets were a lot less expensive it would bring in a lot more problems by the type of folks that would be frequent in the park.

Compare that to WDW where we spend one week a year using 7 day hopper tickets that are now 356.75 each or 1070.25 for a family of three for a week. Yes WDW has a lot more to offer than BGW because BGW is a day park but it's still quite a good deal. BGW is trying to improve its offerings throughout the year, some good some not so good.

We go to the park 10-20 times a year and think overall its a good deal for the money we spend. JMO

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

To be totally fair, that $356.75 divided over a weeklong stay adds up to around $50 admission a day, which is a typical admission price for most theme parks around the country. If you purchase more days, the daily admission price for those parks drops further and further.

Yes it's crazy expensive down there (day admission for both Sea World and Universal last I checked was around $80 per person!!!), but with things like multi-day flex tickets and package deals, there's really no point to buying single day admission down there. Plus with all the things to do, it's almost impossible to fit everything in a day without rushing from ride to attraction.

I'd say Busch is a reasonable deal though for what you're getting out of it.

LOL I just took a look $94.79 for one day WDW and no park hopper... And folks are still lining up everyday to get in... Busch Gardens looks pretty good by comparison don't you think..

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

Both Busch Tampa and SWO's gate prices are about $90-$95 too ($10 off if you buy online).

Like I said, with all the package deals and offers floating around, there's no reason you should be paying gate price at any of the Orlando parks unless you either don't know any better or you're crazy enough. Not only that, but the gate price still drops if you buy over multiple days instead of single day.

- Then again there are people crazy enough to ride Pompeii on a 40 degree day. ;)

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

I was in Orlando early October of last year. I think a 1 day ticket to Universal and Disney was at least $90 each.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

So interesting to learn about James City County and their noise ordinances.

Original Post - The park is open!! We are so fortunate to have this wonderful opportunity in our area! I love being able to visit the many different areas, not to mention the great food. I would encourage park management to be mindful of the neighbors by playing music at a reasonable decibel level and responsible hour. Thank you in advance.

1st Reply - note concerts are over before the quite hour set by local law.

2nd Reply - SHERRY this season bgw concerts sart at 7p and are over around 8pm. not trying to sound to rude sherry but some noise should be expected when you move next to a theme park sorry... also for the most part it would be odd for a concert to play after 11p when for the most part the park closes at 10p or earlier.

3rd Reply - Christopher (I don't feel the need to capitalize your name), to date & for over 20 years, the concerts have started at dusk or slightly later, unless it was a "headliner" with a set schedule. In addressing your comments, first, the neighborhood existed before the park as did our purchase of our home. (so the whole "some noise should be expected" remark is not necessarily appropriate). That being said, as I type this I can hear the roller coaster "click" up the track, the attendees scream as they crest the hill and the train whistle. I do not mind these sounds as they are joyful noise of a great time. As to your remarks re: park closes at 10pm, you are correct about that time for this year with the exception of holidays, however in past years, the park remained opened until 11pm. And I guarantee you, the concerts ran longer than planned. We are not going to agree on this, but I can tell you from my personal experience x 20+ years, the concert (not park, but concert) noise has become louder and last longer into the evening & often beyond 11pm. I have documented records of individuals I have spoken to as well as having been provided the personal cell numbers of park managers, who instructed me to call if this continued. I have probably called once a year to the park but never have I used their personal #. EACH (yes, caps to emphasize) time I have received a return phone with an explanation, that upon further research, the "sound crew" had been experimenting & yes, the sound was louder than permitted. Also, concerts HAD, in fact run longer due to late arrival of performers and sound issues. So, to make a blanket statement that a concert starting early as well as my choice of residence prior to a park being built is inappropriate. We are not going to agree on this but I will promise you one thing, I will post every time the concert goes beyond 11pm. And re: noise ordinance, I may have posted the residential ordinance for the reason that the law officers routinely look to the impact of noise on the residential area vs. a commercial ordinance. My reply to your post below is included in this post.

4th Reply - Sherry you are correct in that we will not see eye to eye on this. Note you say " BG has repeatedly violated the ordinance over the 23, years I have been a resident next to the park." The park has been there now for just over 38years. Like I have said all concerts this year are on Sunday and at 7p and are to end aroud 8pm this season. 3 hours before your posted noise cut off time.

5th Reply - Also note I too have a few "noisy" neighbors. One being CSX rail system. I also have early morning hunters. Bass boats, jet ski, and a camp ground across the river from me.

6th Reply - James City County VA noise ordinance 56-17A states prohibited times are from 11pm-7am. I have specific dates, times, concerts and the name of who I contacted when concerts ran until 1130-1145p and later. Not too mention sound checks at 2am. BG has repeatedly violated the ordinance over the 23, years I have been a resident next to the park.

7th Reply - Good morning sherry please note the following about ordinance 56-17A. This ordinance does not really cover commercial businesses but mainly covers residential zone. But even if you use that ordinance is does have a special clause: D) T~mporarypermits. (1) Requirements and procedures. The county administrator is authorized to issue a temporary permit to allow noise when produced by a temporary use or actiVity. The county administrator may prescribe any reasonable conditions necessary to minimize any adverse effect upon the community. A permit granted under this subsection shall contain all conditions upon which the permit has been granted, including the period oftime for which the permit has been granted

I bolded the interesting portions.

EDIT: Does anyone have any information regarding sound from the park and local laws?

The park posted: Who's going to ride Verbolen this weekend?

It is pretty sad that they make typos like this. Especially since they created the name.

If you look at the bottom of the Quick Queue Unlimited cards, it has a cross-off for "Verbolton." It bugged me.

The park's page is currently being overrun with spam from the Annapolis Irish Festival. I know what festival I won't be going to...
