Was the park really that bad?
I got there around 3:00-ish and it took me 15-20 minutes to get through the parking gates and then another 25 minutes to get through security and pass scanners. Also, everything was about a 90-minute wait, except the stuff that was closed obviously. I might've been over exaggerating, but it was definitely crowded.

It was the worst Sunday I've seen in a long time. As stated previously, it took 30 minutes to get through parking toll gate and another 20 minutes through the gates and that was at 3pm. The line for Santa was well over one hour at 3:30 and the line length stayed that way all night.

A reminder to everyone that if you are experiencing strangely heavy or light crowds, please share with others so they can plan. Here is the thread:

Closing one of your biggest most popular restaurants and a dinner show for a private event on a decently busy Friday night seems like an interesting choice.

Is that Squires? BGW management never has been the sharpest tack in the pack!
Does anybody know if they ever got more of the 50th anniversary pins?

No they didn’t unfortunately. We went yesterday and they weren’t available for members. Sucks to have a promotion for an entire month and they run out in a week.

I took my family that was in from out of town last night. They only visit a few times a year and even they seemed to feel like the event was a downgrade from previous years. I have heard from reliable sources that the exact same number of lights displays as last year are up and I believe but it just doesn't feel that way. On top of that there are very few vendors left at mistletoe market places an the whole event just feels like a cheap over priced roadside attraction to me.

The park did have more lights than opening weekend, but there were still a few dark spots here and there. Some areas like Holiday Hills did seem downgraded from previous years.

I did like the new river display over by Pompeii. I thought that was a nice touch. I would love to see more stuff like that scattered around the park.

Everything kept breaking down. Train and Verbolten broke down while I was in line. Loch Ness was down for the night. No Tempesto but Alpengeist, Darkoaster, and InvadR were running.

Apart from the constant breakdowns, not a bad night really.

The 3 times ive been so far iv'e kinda had a blast. Everything on the train has been working vs last year alot was out. The shows are fantastic unlike KDs weird little pop ups (still cool) I wasn't even going to leave any review till I saw @netdvn mention the little pompeii river display that I also took notice of. Really caught my attention too that I don't remember seeing that last year and it's a very impactful touch. If they did little snipets like that more around the park it would be amazing. Going this year really brought back a appreciation to Busch vs Winterfest which I used to drool over. Having free friend tickets, busch bucks, free ornament and stuff. The train and skyride and pompeii lightshow are just all cheery on top things to appreciate. I think for the $13 a month you can pay to go to busch, it's not worth really complaining about. Christmas town felt way more themed and care out into it than HOS has for the last few years.

Not to mention that they have way less time to set up for xmas town than HOS

Sorry. I wasn’t clear. I don’t think how much time they choose to give themselves for setup should be called out as a reason to congratulate them.

Saturday, 12/14, was a horrible day to visit once the sun went down. We got to the park (to park) at 6. We had to park in Bavaria lot. We did not get into the park until after 7:30. Only coaster open was Darkoaster. Saw a show, looked at the lights, rode one ride, then left. We got to the line for the tram around 9:15. Finally in the car by 10.

I felt bad for anyone who bought a full price ticket and paid for parking.

Ehh I think for Xmas town it's different. How can you prep any sooner for that?
