So dumb thought, but could they do a Santa picture via green screen with an actor Santa on stage in the Festhaus not near anyone?

This exact thing crossed my mind. Present it as a high-tech way to communicate with Santa who is stuck back at the North Pole preparing for Christmas.

Have a green block that kids sit on with a greenscreen background. Put a live actor Santa in a full North Pole set in another room. The greenscreen room with the kid has a huge, fancy, Elf-run computer display that shows the live feed of the Santa actor with the feed of the kid superimposed onto his lap. This way the kid can see their “hologram” sitting in Santa’s lap back at the North Pole. Mic both rooms so that the kid and Santa can speak to one another. Sell screenshots from the combined video feed and recordings of the entire interaction.

???

Profit.

PS: BGW, hire me.

I'm biggest fear would be knowing how well the park handles technology. It might start ok but half the effects stop working before the end of the season, it might never work well, or it might even catch on fire!

Joking aside that's a good idea for these times. Also, i think the festhaus will be fine. Plenty of space to spread the volume that could be there at once. Much better than a heated tent with poor air circulation.

I heard from an employee over the weekend that apparently Festhaus will be open as a food option during the Christmas Event.
Yes that is correct. I actually confirmed that a few posts ago.

Also the park is going to flip back to the France/Germany side. The layout should be similar to Taste of Busch Gardens. So we will only be getting Festa and Italy for this one event. More details to come

Does that mean they WON’T be doing the lights in Pompeii as a photo op? Feels like that’s sort of the iconic spot in terms of decorations, and losing it would seem like a bit of an unforced error. (Otherwise, this makes perfect sense, although I wonder about Sesame).

From what I heard Pompeii area won’t be open

I honestly don't know if they would still do it, but I definitely would not be expecting the normal CT. It will definitely be more like this current event is in comparison to HOS.

However though I would say that I think the park feels that their most iconic spot is the huge yes in front of the Festhaus

That’s fair. Those are definitely the two, I guess for me the Pompeii one is the more ”spectacular.” And you’re right that this won’t be full-scale Christmas Town, but I do think that there is going to be more pressure for seasonal decoration this time around, and there IS a two-week break this time that was missing for the current event. But I guess we’ll see what kind of preparations we start to see beyond the fencing in Oktoberfest as Halloween Harvest continues.

I definitely think that there will be more decorations up for Christmas than there currently is for Halloween Harvest, but I'm just not expecting the level we normally see at CT

I'd wonder with the Christmas events more about shows and ambiance of the park if BGW would look at having more, shorter reservations (e.g. 3 hours or even 2) on certain days to increase overall capacity and event budget. Instead of going 5-9 in the evenings, have a 2-5 and 6-9 reservation with a different show at each time. Weekends could have something such as 9-12 with Santa visits for kids and then 1-5 and 6-10 for the general public.

Shorter windows might hurt the profitability of the events. Less time there means one is less likely to wait for food or yo browse the shops. But I am worried about how a normally heavily evening event is going to translate into time slots. The park is going to have to get creative on how you make those daylight slots as active as the evening ones with the lights.

The events until now have been ride and food heavy. If you take out rides because of weather, then there has to be a draw, and I'm not sure lights alone are a strong draw. Shows and ambiance are the big draw for Christmas Town, so if there's a way to financially make shows work with tighter reservation windows, that would seem to be better than trying to get people to come out for limited rides.

But shows also are logically hard with Covud and the higher risk that things like singing appear to have. Also indoor seating which is what most of the theaters are is going to be hard. Hopefully they can come up with something fir Royal Palace.

I think the best anyone should be hoping for is some kind of VERY basic show at the Royal Palace, which may just end up being an outdoor Santa photo op.

I was thinking how most of KD's WF shows were all small outdoor things and not any sort of grand scale production, but not sure if BGW could pull off any similar sort of thing while protecting both performers and guests.
