What is really dumb is that if I arrive after 4pm, I can't bring my purse in.

Ok, but to be fair, if you review all of the fight videos we've seen in parks lately, everyone involved is always carrying bags, beating one another with bags, using bags as sling-like projectiles, using bags as flails, bounding people up with the stra—oh wait.

While the bag policy is VERY stupid, I did definitely notice an increased police presence at Howl-O-Scream last night. Security and cops both seemed to be roaming the park—not just standing in one corner chatting like I've often previously observed. There was also a mobile police command unit-bus-thing parked at the front of the France lot which was hopefully projecting some strength to people entering the park and maybe enabling some increased coordination between security and officers inside the gates as well.

The other guests last night seemed pretty chill too for the record. There was a little rowdiness here and there—the occasional group of teens running through a crowd—but by and large, despite the great weather, this Friday was still a pretty low key time for Howl-O-Scream. I'm sure tonight will be a whole different story though...

It could be that they are trying to curb something else. When we last visited for the opening weekend of HOS, we saw a group dumping a bag full of empty airplane bottles into a trash can. Straight liquor could easily factor into some of those fights.

Normal bag check or x-ray machines (which Uni and some Six Flags parks have added) are more likely to find small bottles than the metal detectors. They could also take stroller checks more seriously.

Perhaps they should focus on improving their screening, rather than setting potentially dangerous policies.

Not just liquor a friend that is a JCC cop said that they are seeing a significant increase in hard drugs this year connected to Howl-O-Scream. He said that there have been several reports and even a few arrest for drug use in the parking lot and that is a major factor in the no reentry policy.

Hard drugs doesn't count marijuana, right?

Idk man if you have a bag you're kinda shady. Like wanting to bring jackets into the park? Place to store souvenirs? Convenience? All really suspicious activity.

In the wise words of mrblocku, suspicious looking character.

Where is your evidence of that?

Happier guests seem less likely to get into big brawls. One of the ways to increase guest happiness is to increase the perceived value of the experience—price is a key metric in that equation from what I understand.
