Yeah it's on Fox Sports 1 but it's mainly a diehard NASCAR audience looking for inexperienced drivers to wreck. And unless she's up front, you won't see her car on tv.

Yep! ARCA this past Feb was bad enough, a larger wider track is always a recipe for disaster. Superspeedways for ARCA draw the crowd that only wants to see wrecks and helps the league gain notoriety.

That Time Warner Cable vs. Koch Industries matchup is gonna be intense. I wonder what the spread on that one is.

A joke on @Midnight tonight was made about SeaWorld and their publicity department. It caught me off guard, I might have to rewatch to catch what it was about.

I posted about it in the TV thread. It is late night comedy/improv/game show hosted by Chris Hardwick on Comedy Central. The content is derived from whatever is trending or weird on the internet. They include everything from bizarre tweets to strange Amazon reviews. Whichever comedian ends up with most randomly assigned points "wins the internet" for the following 23.5 hours.

Actually, three of the players play for points towards the end when the third person gets put under the red light, they ditch the points and the last two battle it out for the title. Mon - Thurs at Midnight.

To All SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment Team Members

SALE OF COMMON STOCK, SHARE BUYBACK AND CALIFORNIA LEGISLATION

It's been a busy start to 2014. From SeaWorld's 50th celebration last month, construction on new attractions and the upcoming Easter holidays, our parks have been abuzz with activity. The same has been true at our corporate headquarters, and I wanted to update you on several items you may have heard about recently in the news.

The first relates to Blackstone's upcoming sale of SeaWorld stock – 15 million shares and their third offering, including the IPO. In addition, we have announced our intention to buy 1.75 million of SeaWorld stock from Blackstone as part of the transaction. As a result of this sale, Blackstone's ownership position in SeaWorld Entertainment will fall to about 20 percent with this sale, but they still remain our largest shareholder by a significant margin.

As I have shared with you several times since we were first acquired by Blackstone in 2009, a full out public offering has always been the Blackstone plan. Their goal is to continue to realize the benefit of their original investment in SeaWorld. That is why they are selling the 15 million shares – because our stock is at a price that allows them to generate an attractive return. The fact that the sale is a result of the favorable stock price is a testament to our parks, our people and the quality of the guest experience that you deliver day in and day out.

Secondly, you have likely also heard about proposed legislation in California designed to ban killer whales in captivity in that state. On Tuesday, there will be a hearing in Sacramento that will likely generate considerable media coverage. Representatives from SeaWorld and many of our supporters will be there to testify against the legislation. We believe it is severely flawed on multiple levels, most importantly the premise that captivity is cruel to killer whales. This is an emotional argument with no scientific evidence to support it. The simple fact is that our animals receive world class care. Our zoological team is second to none and works day in and day out to ensure that are animals are safe and well-cared for. We are proud of the work they do, and the important role SeaWorld plays in teaching all of us to value and respect wildlife.

Despite some of the detractions, our parks are off to a great start already this year, thanks in large part to your hard work and dedication.

With Easter right around the corner and summer not far behind, there is much work ahead of us, and I thank you for everything you do.

Regards,

Jim Atchison

This is the best review I have seen yet. SeaWorld has provided 69 examples within Blackfish that are false. They include the timestamp from the movie, the description of the clip, the reason it is false, and they provide links to documents for evidence.

It is extremely well put together and an amazing list.

This is fantastic. Thank you for linking this. I'm glad to see that some of the things I saw as false in my viewing are included, and it's quite interesting to see SeaWorld thoroughly dissect the manner in which the interviewed trainers have no basis for several of their statements. I really hope this makes its way to people who believe Blackfish, and hopefully they'll use some critical thinking skills this time. It's about time SeaWorld provided a thorough analysis of their viewpoint of this mess of a "documentary."

Sadly, I have to agree with Nic. I don't see the majority of the copy/paste "activists" taking the time to read all of that like I did.

I can respect those who are against captivity, but I have no patience for those who use vulgarities, misinformation, and outright lies in their arguments like many of these online "activists" have since Blackfish was made.

I certainly don't expect it to happen. I just hope it at least gets some attention. I'm sure this list will be magically buried and unknown to the armchair activists that support Blackfish and its message. I can still hope.

"Remember, Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."

That darn Pathos-styled Blackfish movie.

For those who are very well educated in argumentative communication, I am sightly educated so please bear with me through this post. From my understanding, whenever you want to convince anyone to believe your argument or your side of the argument, you can do so using one or a mix of three proofs. They are as follows:
  • Logos - Logical
  • Ethos - Credibility
  • Pathos - Emotional
Every claim is must be proven in some form and typically those are the forms of proof. As we can see throughout this who debacle, Blackfish has used pathos; which, in my opinion, is one of the strongest forms of proof that can help to easily convince your viewer/reader/listener to believe your view. Of course SeaWorld has to at least use the others, to be credible and logical. They are harder to use because people think more with their heart and emotions than with their brain and logic. From experience, pathos can be extremely hard to put into full effect in writing; however, in movies or images it can be extremely easy.

If SeaWorld wishes to fully captivate everyone, they need to also appeal with pathos as well as ethos and logos to fully win majority support.

An appeal to emotion will alienate part of your audience. Plus, it is sleazy. I am personally more comfortable with their sticking with logic and facts, regardless of whether that wins them the most uneducated support. But I am an intellectual snob.

Well if they ever plan on not looking like a heartless money first company they should do something to appeal to the general public's emotions.

I'm not sure how facts and logic naturally equate to "money first." An appeal to emotion just lowers them to level of the "activists," and reduces their credibility.
