The sand is a reference to the original novel "Dracula". In the book it says that vampires need to carry soil from their homeland (usually Transylvania) in order to survive when they sleep in the daytime. I really applaud all of the people behind creating this house, because they really did their homework on old-Germanic vampire folklore.

^This! Thank you Castle. I'm glad someone else understood the sand in the house too. :D

RE: Bitten (2009 to Present)

I went through this house in 2009 and I thought it was the best house of the year. When I went through last year I still thought it was great. I hope they give it a revamp next year or reverse it if they don't do anything next year.

Most of the time, I would be highly against just reversing a house, but in this case it's ok. Bitten was designed specifically so it could go in any order and make sense. That's why the middle-end is meant to look like a cargo ship to carry the coffins. Other significant rooms often not understood include:"the courtyard",and the "throne room". The "courtyard" is the room that has castle like walls with vines all over the place, and a stained-glass window, that was recycled from MasqueRage. The "throne room" is more obvious. Either way, not all of the house is supposed to take place in the manor itself.

I think I found the Pompeii ladies in this house. I have no idea how they tie in with the theming, but maybe when they replace this maze they'll return them to their rightful home. I'm not saying remove the sundial, I'm saying put the ladies around the sundial.

Got a little taste of the old HOS Train Ride today...

Kudos to the Scare Actors of the Bitten house for chasing across the field to give the passengers on the train some excitement!!

They used to do this, when the train was an official HOS attraction. I actually got startled by one once.

RE: Bitten (2009 to Present)

If you go through this during the day, look behind you when you are going through the tunnel to leave the house, look between the two buildings and your will see roman rapids boats. ;)

RE: Bitten (2009 to Present)

Frighting CK -_-

Well RR boats there...? Yeah really looks good from the train and whats the excuse from the park for not using the other building where the Tormented Tales were? I mean cmon the story with the two houses were perfect and the bothers grimm had the best story behind it, it went in with the whole area i hate Bitten because of ruining a whole area....

Tormented tales and Grimms Hollows: Deadtime stories were perfect and Bitten ruined it with bitten be there now couldnt there be a different maze beside Bitten where Tormented Tales were:exclamation:....?:exclamation::exclamation::exclamation:

What Bitten Ruined:

Now if they still had all the old props they could bring them back and redo the building that once was Tormented tales into something similar what once was there.

And Beaten Path the could still do that and make it some type of Haunted Scarezone for that part of the area.

And lastly with this being said there could be three separate houses/scarezone or like the neverafter where everthing was at one time in the whole area.

Let it be known for once and and for all, the Drachen Fire Maintenance building is simply a mixture of storage and was green room for the hordes. It is basically a spare building for Entertainment to contain all the glittery goodness.

I very much agree with CastleOSullivan. Bitten is a fantastically themed and laid out house. To be honest, though the set design may be a step below Dead Line or Fear Fair, in my honest opinion, the far superior layout makes up for that. If Bitten could be given some TLC and a very strong cast, it could easily be a contender for best house.

I can't wait to see what they have next for this building, but it better be good.

As of right now, Bitten still isn't on the top of the park's "to be replaced" list.

If it's not replaced or atleast significantly modified in the next year... All hope is gone. It is stretching so far for any kind of haunted attraction in literally, the world, other than rundown boardwalk styled haunts. Changing it up or entirely changing the maze needs to be a priority.

OK. I get that the mazes need to be changed out regularly to keep the overall event fresh and interesting, but this is still one of my favorite houses. Maybe this is one advantage to only visiting HOS once a year? I have done Bitten a total of 3 times (we skipped one year), and always with 12 months in-between.

I did all six houses last night and enjoyed most of them. There is no question, however, that I was the most tense in Bitten. I was strung tighter than a drum through the entire maze. My husband touched my back and I screamed and jumped straight up. I can't explain why this house is so much scarier for me than the other five, but there is no question that is was the best maze for me in terms of pure fear.

Just my two cents.

Ugh..... I mean cmon its a building that once was a haunted house and should have stayed like that...

The main reason for it being discontinued as a house is due to Verbolten construction, being it was basically inaccessible at the time for guests. Therefore it was converted into a warehouse, and then when construction was done they didn't have any future plans for it. These things happen. It isn't that big of a deal. Plus, I hated waiting in one line for multiple houses. It ruined Bitten because they just shoved people in Bitten and the people ended up spreading themselves out, other days the houses became a straight line through all of them. Honestly, we do NOT need any longer lines or multiple attractions tied together.

It's because the house itself is absolutely fantastic. It has brilliant set design, a remarkably good layout, great and varied hiding places throughout, etc. I really paid attention to the sets and whatnot as I went through yesterday and whoever designed the thing really should be given a pat on the back. It's a remarkably good house. The cast is continuously lackluster and it still feels rather sparsely staffed, but everything about the house structurally and atmospherically is perfect.

RE: Bitten (2009 to Present)

From what I have heard about Bitten and the cast, it is more so being run by the cast rather than the stage manager taking charge.

I also haven't been in a couple of weeks but I miss the big entrance the place used to have with the gates.

It was ripped apart and used in Cut Back Throat Cove. I can't make this stuff up.

I remember Neverafter on two accounts:

1.) The layout of the 3 "houses" was awesome, especially the last outdoor walk through the hay field or whatever it was at night with all the fog and set pieces that were set up. The scare actors there did a great job and I enjoyed it very much. Also concentrating the themes in that area with the indoor/outdoor layout was unique and fun on that scale.

2.) The line was RIDICULOUSLY ATROCIOUS. Something of a 3+ hour wait. Only the patient persisted through and should the houses have been separate, would average out to a 1 hour wait per house. However I think more people were angry that the wait was this long and I believe BGW decided to never try this kind of stunt again.
