They could make the patio comfortable if they just planted a couple of fucking trees back there. *resists shrubbery rant* They already have shade structures, but it only covers up a little over half the area.

I've eaten under those "shade structures". Quite honestly they are crap in Virginia summers. It felt like I was being broiled rather than burned. I would say plant trees, but they take years to grow into something that can provide much needed relief.

I say make it completely indoors. This would also help make it more successful as indoor climate controlled eateries are few and far between at the park currently. Everyone would either go to the Festhaus or go here.

I still think BGW could pull off an "upscale" (for a theme park) full-service French restaurant. They're lucky because they're one of the very few parks outside of Epcot to pull off an actual French restaurant and I think it's something to capitalize on. I know the full-service idea was tried and failed, but I think a French restaurant would be something different that people would consider because of its uniqueness.

Joe,
I think you have way too much faith in the public.  Why eat at a French Restaurant when you can have pizza at the Festhause?

I just want to clarify something.... The old pizza was fantastic. But whatever the new shit they are selling now is terrible. I'd eat little Caesars before that.

Mehh... you have a point. I think the park should do something like Bistro 75 at KD and make it small-scale, but sort of classy, to serve the small audience that does want more than pizza-flavored cardboard.

I don't think so. Many people appreciate Trapper's because it has good food, even the regular public. Festhaus has air conditioning, and a show, that's most of the reason it's popular. If the park puts good food here, people will learn how good it is, it won't happen immediately, but once people try it out and see it's good, it could very easily become a popular restaurant.

I believe the reason trappers is popular has less to do with the quality and more to do with the menu. It is fair is well know and regionally popular. Frankly the quality has gone down. Consider what the park lists as Italian food, over cooked pasta and sweet red sauce. They do not typically make much of an effort to stray to far from "average American" food. From a marketing perspective this makes complete sense.

Getting back to the question of indoor vs outdoor seating, I think a model like BGT's Crown Colony Restaurant might work. They have both. Indoor is air conditioned, while the outdoor patio is completely covered and has ceiling fans.

When we stop for ice cream at Le Grande Glace, we always go sit on the abandoned porch of this restaurant and look up at Griffon. I would love for there to be a decent French restaurant here. It is a great place to sit and enjoy watching Griffon claim it's newest victims.

That is a good point Ken, but sitting there hearing everybody having fun for an extended 'full service' period of time will create impatience in most people. Drink order, 5 minutes, food order, 10 minutes, eating 15 minutes, check, 5 minutes, all the while becoming more anxious to have fun like everybody else. Just an opinion of how I might feel sitting out there waiting on a full service experience. Inside is 'out of sight out of mind'.

I enjoy sitting out there, as well. I want to relax while I am eating, not scarf something down and dash back to the rides.

I can enjoy sitting out there for the 10 minutes it takes to eat ice cream or a funnel cake. That's about it though. I'll admit that I am more of a ride 'dasher' :)

I think that's ok. I think the Park has plenty of places for ride-dashers to eat and quickly return to rides. It could add a slower paced dining opportunity that would cater to the older crowd, the show-going crowd, and the ride-widow crowd without having any negative effect on the enjoyment of the ride-dashing community.

When I become a bazillionaire I'm going to petition the park to allow me to donate a lot of money in exchange that I get to build a private tower of stone with a golden roof or something. Maybe it would look like the one from Tangled or else a to-scale size Barad-dur. Anyways, I'd have a full restaurant in it, a well-stocked bar, and everyone would be able to come inside and play.

Where is bistro 205, btw?

Bistro 205 is located on the New France side of Aquitaine, nestled behind the Griffon Gifts building. Its backside overlooks Griffon's final turnaround after the splashdown if that helps you place the location better. Here's a picture from Google Earth:
