I love the idea of them having a German Band, but having them outside is a complete insult to the idea of the event. Isn't this supposed to be a German themed event? I can appreciate bluegrass, but not in a beer-hall during a Bier event. I can imagine them now singing about crying over a glass of beer.

Received an email that our Fun Cards have been extended to include the dates for this. Wish we could attend will have to live vicariously through you all.

I'm guessing they want to cater to families like mine, where one parent has an annual pass, the other has a fun card, and the kids have fun cards/preschool passes. I have several friends with families who also do this. Now, I don't know that I will actually attend this year, but I do know in years past the only reason I haven't attended Passholder Appreciation Weekends is because I'm the only one with an annual pass. Now, yes, I realize that is because my family is cheap and we aren't going to pay for more than one annual pass. I'm the only person in my family even mildly interested in Howl-o-Scream and I haven't even been to that in a few years. We are the summer and Christmastown types. I do like the idea of Bierfest though and if we can fit it in our fall schedule I would love to go with my husband.

So yes, the BierFest won't cater to kids, but their parents will be able to go. I imagine those two weekends in September prior to Howl-O-Scream are pretty light in crowds.

I think everyone understands why the park has chosen to extend the Fun Passes, and I am sure it is a great opportunity for people who do not have Annual or Platinum Passes. For those of us who spend a lot of money every year or month for those "higher tier" passes, it is incredibly frustrating every time the park effectively eliminates another of our perks. Over the past year we have watched BGW systematically erode the value of our passes by including our previously exclusive benefits with tickets that cost up to hundreds less.

So, yes, it may a great deal for people with Fun Passes, but from my perspective, those people should have to pay for an Annual Pass, if they are going to enjoy Annual Pass benefits.

I know that last year, in response to questions about platinum parking privaliges, Carl Lum himself said "I don't see a reason why they can't do that." That was during Chritmas Town. If he really doesn't care; shouldn't the park president, of all people, be able to take action.

I don't see any evidence that the park is trying to cater to current pass members. This event (although it may be fine otherwise) just reinforces my opinion about that. Perhaps the current pass members expect too much (in terms of quality) from a managerial perspective.

I think that either way, the Summer Fun Card or Fall Fun Card had to include Bier Fest. This is a new event and isn't significant enough to justify a separate purchase of a ticket like Christmas Town. With a business model that makes most of its money off of merchandise and dining sales, it would be horrible to limit attendance to Bier Fest to Season Passholders or forcing the purchase of an independent pass by non-season pass holders.

I think at this point the Platinum Season Pass is a pretty crappy deal - and they definitely should look into doing something about that. Perhaps including Christmas Town admission with it - but that's a completely different topic.

Or extend the 20% food/beverage/merch discount to Plat passholders all year. I considered suggesting this when a survey was mentioned with several passholder benefit alternatives. The current 20% off promotion for passholders starting today gives me hope. Honestly, beer prices have reached the point it is becoming a rare, occasional treat. A 20% food/merch discount might win me back over and result in increased sales for the park. Hopefully the current 20% discount is a test.

I don't mean to get off topic from Bier Fest, but a 10% discount is practically a joke when you consider its really barely enough to offset taxes. They should offer more "Passholder Special" prices like they do at Water Country which can be a whole dollar or sometimes $1.50 off.

On the topic of beer prices, I sure do hope they don't intend to charge the regular prices for beer when it comes to Bier Fest - or it'll become a One-Bier Fest.
