That's just it, the ride system itself is fairly old and new ones like it aren't being built anymore - between a possible brain drain in maintenance staff plus expense for new parts, it seems more likely to me that they'd gut the theaters completely. Even then, it'd be more likely to continue seeing it as a permanent HoS maze than a new attraction for quite a while.

Was there more than one theater?

Well crossing fingers that a new Irish themed ride/attraction takes its place in the future.

So probably just a crazy thought but with the 50th coming up in 3 years is it physically possible that the park could pull a surprise and say bring back Corkscrew for a year or so as a 50th tribute$

You're probably right, I just felt that was an easy setup...

Though tbf as an anniversary celebration if they do anything historical with that attraction, I'd think they'd play all films they still have the rights to assuming there's still a means to play them.

As cool as it'd be, I think Drachen Spire is likely the big 50th splash. Would be weird to have a giga on your 49th - makes anything on the 50th seem ho-hum.

edit: I DO think that space needs to be revitalized asap with winters being what they are. DarKoaster will help, but the park needs more and more climate control attractions.

I mean, it's possible that DS may be the huge addition that gets the spotlight that year, but they could always bring back historical shows in the theaters assuming they still retained the rights and can assemble any and all of the necessary props and scenery as part of a park-wide celebratory effort that could further their marketing efforts instead of just another coaster.

Of course, that also means this is probably the complete end of the VR setup as it'd be far cheaper to just swap the films out than to do much else.

Unless there's anything really off about projecting them this way it's quite possible they could also just run a standard 2D version for each since the theater was geared towards doing that if you took off your VR headset for BfE anyways. And if they did that, they don't have to worry about the logistics and expense of using and cleaning the 3D glasses.
