I would have like to say that this piece of overpriced garbage had some purpose, but since it was never operational it did not even pull people of the path.

Good riddance. Maybe the park will do the right thing and put some flats in side it. Scrambler has not moved in some time... Perhaps a monster or spider.

Questor and Corkscrew Hill would like a word with you...

Yeah, if nobody else has these sim rides and they've used up all their spare parts so it's incredibly expensive or impossible to order more, then they're gonna have to yank it out at some point in the not too distant future assuming there's a replacement plan.

However, kind of curious if it's actually a large enough space if they were to remodel that they could use it for their permanent events space and restore the DK building into another ride

Holy shit it finally happened. Years of me joking about how everytime I see this thread pop up in the "What's New" tab with me hoping someone said it was closing. Never did I think it would happen. Wow, all those years of me shitting on this ride. And now that it is actually happening, I can't help but think
~good fucking riddance~

On a serious note though, they should just buy a temporary license to the CSH video and bring that back in the meantime, and possibly pay them a few extra bucks to redo the animation and keep the audio. It would be a new ride to a lot of people at this point, and most other people I am sure would like to see it return. I know I heard a rumor of the Holiday Inn in Orlando to be closing or at least ditching the theater they have, potentially meaning CSH licensing would be up for grabs.

I don't really see much else they can use the building for other than a theater type ride or an S&S Skyshot or maybe one of their new Spinshot models. They theoretically could do something like Hershey did and put a small one in COS, a full size regular model in one theater, and the spinning in the other model.

But I feel like at this point it's kinda settled that a screen show just isn't popular enough. Unless they find a way to basically clone Soarin' and put a whole new ride vehicle in there on a smaller scale so it fits with the scale of the building. Maybe they can convince Intamin (now that they work with them again) so scale down the Dome Ride or 360 Fly adventure for here or CoDK building (although the park seems intent on keeping that an events building). Go with a Madhouse model from Vekoma.

I feel ultimately they should use this for a projection/madhouse style ride, and keep it as a small footprint ride. Build a new building elsewhere to house event stuff the way they use DarKastle NeuKastle (stupiiiiiiid) elsewhere in the park (like behind RPT). Then turn and use DK for an interactive indoor dark ride.

Between the hot humid summers and push for year round operations having as many indoor spaces available is going to be important. And losing these spaces without promptly replacing them is going to be an issue. If they haven't, they should push the Drachen Spire project back 2 years and put a focus on putting attractions in those two buildings and building out a new building, along with retrofitting some other indoor spaces to work for year round operations (Thinking COS, Wilkommenhaus, ground floor of EFP, adding a smaller scale building as well).

I still think they could use that as a station. You could fit a Gatekeeper sized wing coaster back there. Leave the station, lift up the south side of the England lot, drop down heading north in the median of the employee entrance kinda like Goliath at SFoG (conveniently, facing the drop away from Kingsmill), around the north side of England, then you have the terrain in that wooded area to play with. Dive under the bridge there, then skim the water heading back. It'd be fun, shown off from 60, and add movement to the park entrance.

The park really needs an interactive dark ride that will age nicely and won't require tons of maintenance. I like the idea of this being the event building, even though the queue can't be decorated as much as the old DK building. I do think this section of the park could use another attraction though, but not encroach on the wildlife.

I have really mixed feelings about the possible demise of EitA.

On the one hand, I never liked it from first time I rode it on Media Day. I found the headset painful, the story boring, and the forces nonexistent.

On the other hand, I think it was conceptually one of the best uses of VR attempted by a park. It certainly made a lot more sense than strapping a phone to a guest's face on a coaster. Moreover, while the implementation seems to have fallen short, the plans as described to the media seemed like a great use of the simulator. Additionally, the theming was some of the best we have seen attempted my BGW in ages.

I just kinda hate that for whatever reason it ride just didn't come together, but the actual product sucked.

On another note, I didn't hate LEGOLAND's flying theater.

Maybe they could keep the VR, get back rights to CH, and change the ride mechanism to the Soarin line platform? I dunno. I just think the investment in VR was a good one maybe it just needs a different execution.

Not saying it was well implemented, just it was a good concept and big investment that maybe just needs better execution. Not that I expected them to stick around much post COVID anyways as I'd be willing to bet more would go without as opposed to using it.

Just on a side note with VR; it's rare to find one that fits well and is comfortable anyways. I know it fit me slightly better than others, but just having something on your face like that is uncomfortable.

What I found as a bigger issue with the ride was the uncomfortable warmth of the ride room. Those computers ran really hot, along with the ride, the people in it. They needed to do a better job of cooling that room.

Any overhaul to this ride system to maintain the theater style ride is very farfetched. In my opinion, it would have to take strong personal desires by higher ups for that to happen. From a business side, they see these rides as iff. EITA, BfE. Both were investments that did not pay off as far as their appeal went to many people, "well-likedness" I'll say. These types of rides offer one incentive, that they can hold a lot of people (and usually have decent lines); It is simply a people eater. Yes, we need people eaters, but do not expect a large financial investments into modernizing a people eater. We all know what happened the last time they were faced with having to dump some money into a themed experience like this.

It seems like the overarching SEAS philosophy is bailing on being innovative and pioneering in their way of bringing people in, and have fully committed to large flashy rides that attract enthusiasts and people going "woah". Which is fine, but it seems like they have forgotten to what extent different, unique, and quality attractions can bring people in other than just coasters.

As I have mentioned before, the VOID was by far the best theme park implementation of VR I have ever experienced.

I never rode it, the idea of vr never intrigued me, due to me wearing glasses, and pre Covid having some goggles that 800 other people that day wore. I liked the euro tour better, it was nice to have a relaxing ride in the a/c in July/August.

Fair enough. I haven't been on VOID ever so hard to apply personal experience. Was just pointing out that I thought my point of VR as a concept was a good one and shouldn't be disregarded was a touch misconstrued.

If SEAS were willing to invest a chunk of change in a non-coaster and commit to upkeep on theming, I'd say a really good fit for the park would be a trackless shooting dark ride ala Labyrinth of the Minotaur...something that would be both modern and timeless. But given their track record with CODK and VB, I seriously doubt that we're going to see anything on that level. I suspect it's either going to be empty building or a simple flat but indoors. Of course, the simulator theatre closing wouldn't sting so much if CODK were still around and in good shape...

Honestly if BGW is going to continue with their plans for year round opps then one or two indoor all weather rides are more or less a most. Hopefully if Eire is closing its a sign that they have a new ride planned for either that or DK.

I actually don't think the VR was well-implemented. For me, the headsets were painful and seemed glitchy and unreliable.

I'd rather have a flying theater without strap-on medieval torture devices and problematic video.
Yes! My head (and my eyesight) couldn’t handle the equipment. I normally like screen rides but the VR was specifically the reason I would never ride it again. I wonder if that was a pretty big factor in its lack of popularity.
