Why are the windows so big in the first place? They cover up the entire walls. There's not one place in Banbury Cross where the windows cover entire walls. You would probably never find a building in Victorian England where a window covered an entire wall, or side of the building. Yet another thing that takes away from sticking to the old-world architecture.

The flag on the back is waaaayyy too big, it does not need to cover the whole back side of that wall. Not to mention the way they've cut off the edges, and put it in a splatter type paint makes it look sloppy, and could be considered a disrespect to the British flag.

Don't even get me started on that dreadful Coca-cola Fuze(?!) wrap around the top of the building.

Overall, I'm not impressed, we'll see what it looks like when it's built, but if it's anything like that picture, well let's just say that wouldn't be good.

Matthew, I highly doubt the concept art is too scale. I don't believe the windows will take up the entire wall. The window may actually very well be similar to the candy store windows that is just next door or the British Baker's windows.

I din't think the flag or the Coca-Cola Fuze wrap will actually turn out that way. Those are things that are more likely subject to changing at any movement than the entire design of the actual building. For example, the Mach Tower concept art had the tower painted with white stripes; which, the ride never got. Mainly because those are small details that can be cut out without any major change costing thousands of dollars and redesigning of the entire structure.

Joe, they are more likely to stick to the current theme and design of the surrounding buildings than to do something completely different and out of place. I am not talking about small things that only people on these forums will care about consciously.

I would like to remind everyone that this is *concept art* and just like concept art, it will probably have many changes in the small details such as signage. Do not take every small detail to heart form this one concept image.

This concept was made with Google Sketchup, so the scale is most likely correct. As you can see in the background, they have another building showing you the size. Sketchup allows you to input heights of objects for more accurate representation. This is most likely the same for the texture used.

The pictures with Mach Tower, where the ride was white and blue were hardly concept art, they were graphics meant for advertising. This picture is hardcore concept art, with specific scales, and details. Concept art is rarely put out to the public for advertising. There's a difference between advertising graphics, and concept art.

. . . I still stand by my statement about concept art. This image was created with a specific idea and design that may not be fully implemented in reality due to all sorts of factors.

Matthew, concept art is just that. A concept, the desired concept. It does not take into account the extremely frequent budget cuts that park seems to go through when it comes to projects of this scale or larger.

Concept art is used for marketing materials. Actually, it is often used for that purpose to give people a general picture for the desired look.

The concept art Zachary shared is official concept art from the park. CK is the only one who made fake concept art, and for the record, his is way better. ;)

I think the design of the building fits in well with the hamlet and just the colors are what is making it clash. Perhaps we are being too harsh on it all. It is concept art and thus can change. Perhaps it will look more cohesive once completed. I say let the building play out and then we can discuss how it really looks in the hamlet. I wouldn't doubt that Coke has a say in the design plan, so perhaps most of what we dislike so far is what Coca Cola has decreed. Therefore, if the colors clash in the end- perhaps we should complain to Coke.

Part of me likes it, part of me doesn't.

The giant flag on the side reminds me a bit of Colonial Williamsburg's Visitor's Center.

The colors could probably be muted more to fit in better with the surrounding around.

I'm on the fence with this one.

Last year, I had some German cousins come to visit Busch Gardens. We were walking around in the Rhinefeld section of the park, when one of them saw a Coca-Cola machine out in the open in the Wilkommenhaus. She said kindly, "This entire village would feel a lot like a real medieval town in Germany, but that Coke machine ruined it for me." I have to say, I agree. I wish Coca-Cola didn't have to display their logo so boldly everywhere. If only they could cover up the freestyle machines with stained-glass windows, or something like that. Knowing Coca-Cola, however, that's not going to happen.

Well, as long as they don't try to retheme the entire Banbury area, it should be fine
Actually, I heard an article saying they are going to remove the emporium soon and replace it with a miniature Ferris Wheel called the London Eye.
Okay, I'll be serious here. I hope the windows will be small and I SURE HOPE the Union Jack wil just be a little flag instead. He doesn't have to fill every square inch with colors.

They will not be removing the Emporium anytime soon. They just redesigned and renovated it just what one or two years ago. Plus it is their main shop where guests will buy things on their way out.

The Ferris Wheel is an actual concept that has plans drawn up, but there is nothing actually solid as far as if it will or when it comes. The goal for the ferris wheel is to have loading in Ireland and unloading in England.

That said, I doubt we will ever see that ride happen within the next forty years.
