And with Matthew's sensible comment and some editing of posts above- let us return to Banbury and the concept of rethemeing it to whatever  it ends up being.  Here are some photos to enjoy and comment upon..

There is a mega exciting </sarcasm> photo from the skyride of pink flags in various spots for the future Coca-Cola stand.

Matt, I have not been going to the park for 20 years, if you see I am only but 20 years old :p Yes the Globe has not been used to it's full potential in more recent years; however, it is not the same as a ride. The show at the Globe is more of something to do while you wait for the rest of the park to open, or as the very last thing you do when you leave and try to relax a bit. Look at Imaginique, it was a show meant to be the last thing people did before leaving. That is what the show in the Globe should aim for. Also, I am going to say that Das Festhaus is the largest indoor theater, with the Globe following closely behind.

Here you go, 4D movies since 1993

For the theater, I wasn't really counting Das FestHaus as it's a dining hall and I personally don't see it as a "theater", but since Entwined I guess it does need to be grouped in.

But see the things with promoting new things is each thing has it's own precedent for how advertising should be applied. Rides, events, and opening should be the things that get the most advertising and pushed the hardest. Shows can get advertised no problem, but definitely not to the extent they are doing it. If you are expecting something new, you expect it to be a ride. If the park can not deliver a new ride, and instead a new show is delivered, that is fine but don't blast it out too much because at that point you make this new show sound like it is going to be thrilling much like a ride and it simply is not a ride. Shows are not rides and they should not be advertised as such.

I have a problem with this, just because things have always been done a certain way doesn't mean we have to continue to do it that way. In advertising there is no right or wrong there is only what works and what doesn't. Also, what works for one thing might not work the same for another, so I'm glad they are stepping out of the box and trying something new.

Whether a show or a ride it's all about the experience, if they can transport you back to 1960's England within that show, then it's just as good as a ride to many people. Look at Secrets of Osullivan's Castle, you felt like you were at a castle auction and that was an experience may people loved (my daughter loves watching the Youtube of that show)

I'm not saying they will be able to do it, as I have my doubts about it as well, but I think this is the idea behind LR and the re-theme and I'm excited to see how it will be pulled off.

But Banbury Cross was never meant to change. That is why there are no rides or space for rides. It was designed in such a way to be a classic hamlet only to need a refresh of new paint and maintenance to keep the area looking nice, with slight changes. It was designed specifically for filtering crowds in and out of the park. Having rides or big attractions would really clutter up the space and area and cause major pathway issues.

I take this as a personal opinion because honestly this could be said about every hamlet in BGW. You could replace your words and say, Ireland is supposed to be classic, it's not supposed to have a dance party in the middle or EiTa. Oktoberfest is classic, it's not supposed to be Blackforest-y.

I want to be very clear to everyone. These are just my doubts. I am not saying my viewpoints are perfect, or that they are right. It is just what I think and believe. I'm not going to insult others for not agreeing with me. Everyone has a different way of thinking and everyone has different viewpoints. You can't always change someones mind. I have found the best remedy for getting into an impossible argument to win is just shut up about the topic and talk about something else you agree on.

An internet argument/discussion should never be about winning, because that is literally impossible, it's about opening your mind and really trying to see the other persons side and understanding what they are trying to say. It's about listening and processing a different viewpoint that you never would have thought. You might not agree with someone, but we should all respect others thoughts and opinions. Also, It's about not getting offended just because someone disagrees with you. I learned a long time ago that it's impossible to please everyone, given the time people will find fault in anything.

Matt this was a very beautifully said statement: "An internet argument/discussion should never be about winning, because that is literally impossible, it's about opening your mind and really trying to see the other persons side and understanding what they are trying to say. Bravo. Bravo.

I do agree with you that a show can be a ride. I look back at Enchanted Laboratory that exact same way. Totally Television, Rocking the Boat, Hats off to Hollywood all take me back to a time and era of the park.

It is my hope that despite the budget cuts, London Rocks turns out as a success. However, I am not sure about the "Ticketing" system. Theme park shows have always been first come first serve. BGW used to have paid tickets for concerts back in the Old Country days (at the RPT) and now- they hand out tickets for acts; yet, never for a reoccurring show like Celtic Fyre or Entwined. It will be interesting to see how that goes over.

*thinks back to CK's concept art*

That fence is officially starting to remind me of my bedroom when I was ~14. Jokes aside, I'm excited to see progression being made (even if it is just stickers and pink flags).

EDIT: Also, I may be in the minority here but I don't really hate the idea of tickets for London Rocks! I'm definitely not crazy about it, but as someone else mentioned previously, it could help the "immersive concert experience." I'm right there with those of you who don't think the ticket system will last, buuut I'm not mad about it. *shrug*

I think the ticketing system could be a good idea, actually. I consider waiting in a really long long before a show that I may or may not get into to be a deterrent. Obviously I'm not very motivated to attend them to begin with, but when I see people lined up all of the way down to the Wild Reserve (or whatever) I decide absolutely not to bother.

For at least a year after Hogsmeade opened at Universal, they handed out tickets with an entrance time to control the crowds (kind of like the Disney Fastpass system, but without the machines). I thought it worked very well, and I preferred having a specific time, when I knew I would be able to get into the Harry Potter area, without having to stand in a very long line outside.

Moving this from the permits, and projects thread.

EDIT: The capacity of Union Snax is 13 people.

Ha! there's going to be some serious problems if they're going to have Freestyle machines there. A lot more than 13 people are going to want to use those things.

I just noticed something: on the park map, all of the park's theaters (Abbey Stone, Royal Palace, etc.) are all labelled, but the Globe is not. In addition, the Globe is not mentioned under LR's description on the website. I fear some signage removal and some paint (bus facade, anyone?) could make it so that the Globe is no longer the Globe. Gulp.

I don't know, maybe because it's not open yet, they'll probably put it on there when it's open. I wouldn't worry too much about it not being in the description. While it's possible, I don't think so, and if so then that would just be the black icing on this sour cake.

It's going to be replaced by a smaller version of this.
