Maybe we should start a gofundme along with a partnership with ACE or the coaster museum to help save old arrows. They could all be relocated to a new park somewhere and call it Arrow World or Arrow Land.

Reminds me of that prank a few years ago when people thought Anaconda fell over or something like that.

Been listening to the Ryan the Ride Mechanic videos lately, there's the one about 'you can get a free ride... But not really' that seems pertinent.

If you were able to hire a crew and carefully remove the ride to the park's satisfaction in the timeframe they specify, which is usually is really fast, go for it. Problem is if the park wants it gone in 5 months or faster and that's what the demo crew can do with a thin time margin by cutting it to shreds, then it's highly unlikely it'll be preservable.

Count me as one whose first looping coaster was Anaconda. It's also the ride I've ridden the most in my life since my friends and I would hit it multiple times every time we went to the park since the line was always pretty short. Eventually, we recognized it wasn't a great ride and was kinda rough, but it just kinda became our thing to do. So it does hold a special place in my heart. Though I admittedly haven't ridden it in a few years due to the roughness giving me a nasty headache these days.

That being said, I'm not mad about it being torn down and I'm honestly kinda surprised it made it this long. I wouldn't have made it down for a last ride or whatever anyway (not worth the hour and a half trip), so I don't even personally care about the surprise closure, while acknowledging why others would be upset.

But I can't get past how freaking weird it is to tear down a major coaster - or any ride for that matter - before you've even officially announced it's happening. While I'm not mad or upset, I'm very perplexed by the strategy. It's just so weird to me. Did they just say, "Welp, the news is already out there, so we're good"? It's just a bizarre move that was bound to anger people. Massive own goal by whoever made that decision.

Reminds me a bit of how Anaconda was originally built, with the first half of the ride completed and waiting for months before the midcourse onward was added.
THIS!

What you just mentioned is a key piece of Anacondas weird opening history that is often not talked about. I searched and searched some more without finding additional info about Anacondas planned 6 inversions, though the fliers posted earlier were a part of it.

I’m hoping an email to Dennis Spiegel could maybe get returned. I remember hearing how the ride went through some major changes before much of it got built. I remember seeing concept art with a 6 inversion Anaconda a few years back. I hate myself for not remembering where I saved it to or if I even did save it.

If anybody is able to help with this I’d appreciate it. I’m nerding out trying to solve a missing inversion case of a freaking shitty roller coaster lol This stuff really scratches an itch.

It’s about to be missing quite a few inversions.
