Yeah, but conspiracy theories should have at least some small possibility of actually being true.

It does, if you think about it. Drachen Fire was melted down 2002 and Griffon was built in 2007. That was a 4 year difference. That means they would have 4 years to design a new ride, get permisson to build it and go through all the leagal stuff and then get the construction started. Plus, the fact that they are both blue, I understand completely that, that was because it needs to try to blend in with the sky, then the Dragon and Griffon. Both are very similar creatures. The main differences is 1 breathers fire. Other than that, they both fly. They both have a red/orange/yellow color scheme. Plus Busch like to recycle so how would they recycle Drachen Fire, well by melting it down and forming new tracks for a consolation coaster. It's like when you loose out on a big prize, but they lost out on a great coaster, so they built a consolation coaster. A coaster that is better and takes the place of the other coaster. Plus what does a Griffon have to do with France? It seems like it would fit in a Greek/Roman theme. Maybe they made up the Griffon to be similar to Drachen Fire just so they go a long. Why couldn't they use a more French theme? There are plenty other names they could have used, with plenty other icons, but no they had to go with a mythical creature that has almost nothing to do with France. Plus maybe you could be in denial. You don't want to accept the fact this could be true because you loved Drachen Fire so much you couldn't bare to believe this possible fact. I G2G for now, Grammys are coming on soon and I got 3-D glasses for the Michael Jackson tribute video.

No, I'm not in denial. Drachen Fire was melted down and the steel was sold as scrap. It was not held in storage for years waiting for a new ride to be built. The trains were kept and used for spare parts for Loch Ness Monster. Griffon was not the only name in consideration for the coaster, "Voltare" & "IronEagle" were also both considered. The park wanted a name that inspired the idea of flying and there are plenty of Griffin statues in France.

Also, what part of Drachen Fire was sent to build SheiKra? So, again, no denial here, just common sense and a rational, fact based, thought process.

Thank you Chris. There is no way that it was the same metal. If there was some kind of data that you could show to back up your idea, I might listen. There isn't any data, thus, I have no reason to listen.

Sorry to Have opened this can of worms guys.

-and by the way, when you melt steel the paint comes off.

Yeah, I just completely left that out, but the biggest problem with this "conspiracy theory" is, why go through all the trouble of saving the metal from Drachen Fire and then forget to mention that's what you did when you build the new ride?

This is such a hot topic. Okay I see your guys point. I had no idea the metal was sold or that they used the cars for spare parts. I assumed they recycled them metal somehow and the cars were recycles as well, plus I was just guessing. I really don't know nothing about it. Just useless mind wondering into subjects. So yeah, just saying thats what my useless mind wandering gave me and now I stopped thinking and I understand what you guys are saying. BTW - I'm gonna be here all day tomorrow, YAY for me. tomorrows a teacher workday, so no school. I'm gonna assume teachers won't go cuz of the snow.

{Update}

Actually my thinking about Griffon is like the actual history of the actual country. I don't remember anything in the history books about Griffins (which is the actual name of the creatures, Griffon is one particular one) or anything, that's what I meant.

What?

A Griffin, Griffon, Gryphon (all the same thing) is a guardian of treasure and a symbol of divine power. In fact you can find one on the Notre Dame de Paris.

I might be wrong here but I believe that the proper spelling is gryphon, griffin is also good, being the spelling for it in other languages where the primary spelling doesn't make sense(the y and ph). griffon is the phonetic spelling that has become popular thanks to that thing called the internet, where you can show that you have absolutely no spelling ability and at the same time blend in with the crowd.

Ok thnks nora, I had no idea of that. And to think I'm taking a French class and didn't know. I am so upset, I need to study some more. I hope I passed my mid-term exam.

Well being that our language is a hodgepodge of so many other languages no wonder. But I do have to correct you on "Phonetic" y's and ph's. the origin is Latin: "gryphes". A "Gryphon" was in the book Alice in Wonderland.

Of course our beloved Harry Potter was in Gryffindor, which comes from French "gryffin d'or", which means "golden griffin". A hippogriff, is rare breading of a horse and a griffin and oh yes, that creature was also in Harry Potter.

Take a look at this:

Kingly comes from Germanic origins
Royal: from French
Regal from Latin.

Warden is Norman
Guardian is from French, and before that derived from the Germanic language!

No wonder I had such difficulties learning how to spell.

Let us just say that for the sake of argument: Griffin, Gryphon, or Griffon are all spelled correctly.

Or if you really want to bake your noodle; here are all spellings of Griffin:

gryphon, griff, griffen, griffon, griffoun, griffun, griffyn, grifo, grifon, grifyn, grefyne, gríobhán, griphin, griphon, gryffen, gryffin, gryffon, gryfon, gryf, gryphen, and gryphin.

I think they chose the one they did because it is the most common american spelling and it also works well with the logo. Just saying.

I think that the logo had more to do with it than anything else. I might hate the coaster, but the logo is one of the best out there.
