I always noticed that Water park advertising does not happen until the weather starts warming up (besides the indoor parks). Everything is awkwardly silent across the east coast. I have heard nothing on Laff Track, nothing on Looping Dragon, a few tiny blurbs about Impulse, and nothing else really from regional advertisers besides Hershey's Christmas event and Six Flags 2015 Season Passes. The difference all of these attractions and KD's have in common though is that they have been announced in some form, compared to another ride in Virginia.

While I'm very excited about the Water Works renovations, I still believe there will be things done in the regular park area. I don't think this year there will be major throwback attractions from the Golden Years returning, but there should always be the small things around the park that don't require major announcements. Things like the water wheel at Shenandoah Lumber Company, etc. There will probably be more improvements to park beauty as there have been for many years now, like more pavers replacing asphalt and the like.

Do any of you guys remember the extra architectural details on the roof of Victoria's Pizza in Candy Apple Grove? I saw a picture of it and I think it would be neat if the park had extra money to put that back this year. While they're at it, how about renaming the Kings Dominion Theater back to Mason Dixon Music Hall?

Although it's been a quiet off-season so far hasn't it?

Would you mind sharing that picture of Victoria's, VAman?

Here's a link of a picture of the 1978 map and if you can look closely at the building in Candy Apple Grove that says "Pizza", there's these sharp tent like roof structures on it, I guess that it was removed during the Paramount era to cut costs. It's quite pretty and that's why I would love to see that next year (with repaving Candy Apple Grove of course.)

Here is a photo of the tent roof corners of Victorias Pizza. Middle left side of picture.

I agree, it's going to be the subtle "small" changes that the park will undoubtedly do this year. After all WaterWorks doesn't open until Memorial Day.

If this entrance returned I wouldn't ask anything else of the park.:)

Although there is still a curious absence of 40th Anniversary-related marketing coming from the park this year, the park has finally put two slides related to the celebration back on the homepage of their website! (Not going to lie, their being missing for so long was starting to worry me.)

Additionally, the park has re-opened the KD40 photo mosaic. You can upload and share some of your photo memories of the park here. I see Luke has already submitted quite a few photos there! :)

I wouldn't worry about that Joe, I think the park will surprise us with some small enchantments here and there. Plus, I do sincerely hope that Rebel Yell's entrance will one day return to be like it was in 1975 and it's exit re-done so I won't feel like I walked a mile.

The Soak City additions are going to be really good and the name of the new slide complex Hurricane Heights, reminds me so much of the old Hurricane Reef name that it's not even funny.

I was writing a email reply to KD just now and remembered something. Two months ago I posted this:

As far as I can tell they have almost seemed to have forgotten about Part II... :-/

The consensus seemed to be that Kings Dominion would likely announce more 40th celebration stuff soon. Two months later and there's still nothing as far as I can tell. Do we know of any anniversary changes happening for 2015?

I have not heard of anything new for the 40th Zach. Their focus seems to be solely on the waterpark revamp/additions. (Some dining changes worth mentioning but nothing 40th anniversary related.) I'm hoping there is at least one or two surprises this year.

The entrance was removed for the Wayne's World expansion along with the railroad line.

Actually, Wayne's World and the Old Dominion Line coexisted for one season. The railroad was not removed to make room for Wayne's World, as commonly believed. If you look at this image of Wayne's World, you can see the train and station at the bottom right hand corner.

Back on topic, Kings Island's Racer still has the original queue house structure, if that means anything to anyone. Pic.

#KD40 Year One: Return of the Floral Clock, Blue Icecream, the Singing Mushrooms, the Candy Apple Grove Candy Apples, the Clown Band, the Coca-Cola Pizza Parlor, and much more. Additionally the park debuted #KD40 On Stage, released a ton of KD40 merch, and unveiled an all new pin trading program revolving around old park icons to celebrate their 40th year.

#KD40 Year Two: A couple unannounced parties...?

The park seems to try to make a case for the water park renovations being part of their celebration. That just doesn't fly with me. The water park renovation may be nice, but it's no more part of the 40th Anniversary Celebration than Volcano's modifications were last season.

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty disappointed.
