RE: 2014 Coaster

For all the people who said there wasn't enough space or it wouldn't be possible, here's something for you to chew on: Expedition GeForce from HolidayPark inside of Busch Gardens

Note: The model is from the Sketchup Warehouse. Also, yes, this is perfectly to scale.

Are you as amazed as I was?

RE: 2014 Coaster

That's pretty cool that a coaster like GeForce can fit in the park. Let's build something like that to piss Kingsmill off even more, lol.

RE: 2014 Coaster

Actually, if they were to build something like GeForce (which would be amazing), that would be the place to build it. That location is further away from residential housing than just about any other section of the park.

Before people ask me if I know who makes Expedition GeForce, I do. The Intamin Mega-lites are an exception to my Intamin hatred. If they worked together with the park on a layout that used the terrain back there, I think they could make an amazing coater. We have an extreme lack of good Mega-lites here in the States anyway- it'd be something that most people have never experienced before.

If you're not familiar with Expedition GeForce...

RE: 2014 Coaster

I think GeForce is actually a mega coaster. The mega-lites are much smaller (only about 100 feet tall, I think) and as far as I've seen have a standard layout. (I don't have a problem with cookie cutter if it's something that works and is fun, i.e. not a Vekoma SLC.) Now, a custom terrain coaster with the size and spirit of a mega-lite at BGW would be completely fantastic.

When Intamin track started showing up at Kings Dominion, I was really, really hoping for a Mega-Lite. They look like an amazing amount of fun. Then what we got was basically a Mega-Lite layout at three times the size of a Mega-Lite. Multiplying the size like that took it from peppy, zippy and bouncy fun to greyout, whiplash and violent misery. Add a country-rock soundtrack and a nascar theme and that's basically what hell looks like to me.

Here's the mega-lite at Happy Valley Chengdu:

RE: 2014 Coaster

Here we go, I pulled up the stats and some good pictures (in the link of course) off of RCDB so we can compare the Mega-Lite layout to Exped to i305 to even Bizzaro at SFNE.
The Mega-Lite
http://rcdb.com/3799.htm
Intimidator (or as TPR calls it "TIMMY")
http://rcdb.com/4520.htm
Expedition GeForce
http://rcdb.com/977.htm
Bizzaro @ SFNE
http://rcdb.com/628.htm

I hope we can get a merge of a these four (Hershey Park's is apparently a mix of a mega-lite and GeForce) and if this ends up happening I would like a Stengel Dive as shown here (http://rcdb.com/1565.htm?p=4524 ) in the layout. An element like that in the US would be awesome.

EDIT: Exped. is 201 ft. tall while the mega-lites are 108 ft. tall, so one is clearly not the other. I just wish the mega-lite were a little larger though, since the trains are so small they don't have the greatest capacity.

RE: 2014 Coaster

Ya, you guys are right, I meant Intamin Mega Coasters, not Mega-lites. My bad.

If they were to build a coaster there, where should the station be located, England or Ireland? If they had it in England, they could actually keep the Europe in the Air building and use if for some other cheesy motion simulator attraction.

RE: 2014 Coaster

I would love to have one of these coasters at BGW, but not so much at the same time. I feel like it is to simaler to Apollo's Chariot. I would much rather like them to broaden their collection....

RE: 2014 Coaster

^^I figured that was the case as I thought about it later.

I wouldn't mind something in the 200 foot range, but at 300 it just seems like lots of speed needs to be wasted on things like massive overbanks (MF) or trims (McTrimidator 305). Now, if they were to use all of that height and speed properly and make a realllllllly massive and long coaster, that would be great. But it would also cost kajillions.

The more coasters I ride, the less impressed with size I am. What really wows me is when something is relatively small in stature, but still is amazing. (Terminat*ahem*Apocalypse--I know it's wood, but the same thing could happen with a steel coaster.)

RE: 2014 Coaster

Apollo focuses on floater air, an Intamin that focuses on ejector air would be a very different experience. BGW's coaster collection is already pretty well-rounded in my opinion, what do you think they're missing?

RE: 2014 Coaster

flyer or a wooden coaster. A wooden coaster going through that section of the woods would be absolutely awesome.

RE: 2014 Coaster

I could see the county making a fuss about a woodie being being built that close to route 60, especially if it would be above the tree line. Some track and supports would be one thing, but I imagine they'd have some trouble getting away with a huge wood structure.

RE: 2014 Coaster

They could still keep a good amount of the trees over there. Really, there's a whole lot of room there.

RE: 2014 Coaster

Perhaps, If something goes there I would want to see it more like a somewhat hidden terrain coaster like Nessie, The Wolf, and Alpengeist. Not another parking lot coaster like Griffon.

RE: 2014 Coaster

Griffon and whatever will occupy Drachen Fire's spot (unless they change the terrain) will be the only parking lot coasters. The woods aren't exactly flat and with the right company they could build a world-class woodie while removing little trees.

I felt like that at the beginning of my youtube ride, but the second half looked like lots of fun. All those bouncy hills and going in and out of the supports, looks like a lot of fun.

I love woodies, but I don't see one ever coming to BGW.

RE: 2014 Coaster

Sorry to veer OT, but someone please enlighten me...In what way is Griffon a parking lot coaster?
