RE: 2012 Coaster

All I am trying to imply is that other parks not too far from BG have created hype about rides which don't even exist yet /nor have broken ground for, and they have the chance to steal some of BG's thunder if marketing/PR doesnt start talking up their "world-first ride" now. A themed dust wall is a good start, but only for those who visit the park, not those 100+ miles away who haven't been to BG and haven't ridden a new ride since DarKastle with no real knowledge of a huge addition. Singers coming to BG will not boost attendance in the way a well-touted coaster addition should. If attendance was down 3.4% last year, and possibly down/flat again this year, Verbolten needs to steal the show of possible attendees early on, not solely around the time it opens.

I don't mean to rant, :D but with all we know about this ride, the suspense is truly killing me and BG's shot at the bigtime attention it deserves in 2012.

~There is more than enough time for an announcement.

~Busch trips are not planned very far in advance for most.

~You said attendance in general.

Griffon was announced in August, on a date in the twenties, but I can't remember exactly which one. Last year though, the park announced Mach Tower and a 2012 coaster on September 18th, so I'm beginning to think an announcement will come later than that this year, especially since they have officially announced a new "world's first roller coaster" for next year.

Just curious, but as a comparison, when was Griffon announced back in 2006? I can't remember what month.

Can't/shouldn't be much longer for Verbolten, Thanksgiving/Xmas is wayyy too late given past histories. Then again. Busch was a different animal in those days management-wise.

RE: 2012 Coaster

It is actually better that BGW waits to announce the coaster. Let everybody else announce their stuff then let BGW be the last one and with taht they will be remembered easier and not caught up in the clutter of all the other ride announcements.

It's all about marketing people..not when is the soonest we can announce it.

I'm thinking they are gonna do this.

With the current eruption of announcements from Cedar Fair and Six Flags and the pending reveal of Dollywood's B&M this Sunday, the park may want to give some time to let this tide recede a bit.

I'm also curious if they are gonna launch some sort of viral marketing campaign like BGT did with Cheetah Hunt. That worked really well so they may do it for BGW.

RE: 2012 Coaster

I saw on fb that they're doing a pass member appreciation the 16th and 17th (unable to confirm). Maybe they're doing it then?

RE: 2012 Coaster

Didn't BBW close on a Labor Day? Wouldn't that make tomorrow a GREAT day to announce this? Dollywood announces their Raptor look-alike tonight, why not have Busch announce their coaster tomorrow? Seems pretty clear that tomorrow is gonna be a good day.

They aren't just going to announce it out of the blue. That makes no sense at all. How would the press know to show up? How would it be good to just send out a press release?
Think.

RE: 2012 Coaster

They should be saying something about it now. What they are doing is waiting til MT is out of everyone's head. Believe me, It's not gonna work. Every single (smart) press write up/announcement about 2012 is gonna refer to the disaster that was MT. Even we are doing it here, come on now. They need to announce it, flat out and pretend MT never happened or they are just gonna piss people off, and people will start making other plans regarding next year's vacation plans or season pass renewals cause it will appear busch isn't getting anything new...

RE: 2012 Coaster

On another note.... I was thinking about the 2012 Coaster for BGW today and I got to thinking of a really neat feature that would be totally awesome!! So I know that everyone has their heart set on this resembling the Wolf in some way especially with the last run following the Wolf's path. So this is where I thought it would be an awesome addition to the new coaster but not be too overpowering and add some homage to the wolf (subtly of course.)

We know this thing should have a drop section and then launch. How cool would it be to enter the drop section and then you hear some howling, drop, and then launch to the end of the coaster?

I know it probably would not happen but atleast it would be cool and a subtle way of incorporating the wolf in the new theme... though I'm not sure if they have wolves in Germany...LOL I assume they do!

Thoughts?

Wolves used to be everywhere in Europe. Their numbers have dramatically dropped in the past few centuries from excessive hunting to the point of endangerment. Some environmental organizations have been trying to revive the species' population.

And I agree with your idea. I'd like to see some sort of tribute/homage payed to the Big Bad Wolf somewhere in the coaster's theme.

RE: 2012 Coaster

I think that last part of the layout that follows the last part of BBW is a great tribute. Can't wait to experience that dive over the Rhine and sharp turns through the woods on the way back to the station.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Not trying to sound negative here but I don't think the drop over the Rhine on this new coaster will be as thrilling as the Wolf's. Mainly because the Wolf was a suspended coaster and you were hanging below the track really close to the water while swinging almost completely sideways. I imagine the new coaster would just be traditional track with a wide bank.

RE: 2012 Coaster

I agree... There is no way they can make the drop as good as the wolf's unless the new ride is a suspended coaster
