RE: 2012 Coaster

actually gr8mat the yellow truck is a drill...it has an auger bit at the end to drill the hole necessary for the concrete footer....and pile drivers will not only drive metal, but concrete and timber too. =)

If you are talking about the piece next to the red truck that is a section of rebar that goes into the hole when they drill it, then they pour concrete over it and at some point there will be bolts set into the concrete to mount the track support. Like someone said they use lasers and GPS to get exact locations for the holes and footers. They aren't using anything physical to get the locations.

Thanks Zoomy;)

Update for Thursday 8-4

Well say goodbye to the waterfall element, there were ripping it up all day with a pneumatic hammer so I don't think there just changing it,

Cerebral

I looked at some of the civil drawings I have. The water fall is going to stay, a footer goes at the very top where it started but they are going to install a new longer pipe to restore the water fall. I just hope the put a bigger motor so there is actually some water coming out.

Verbolten. ;)

^Yep, what he said :D Just look at that picture of the white shield and bolt on the dust wall. Case closed.

I can envision the announcement now:
"Verbolten. Opening Spring 2012, assuming Zierer stays on board and Moser isn't chosen to design launched roller coasters AND drop towers, because by then, it will be open 'two weeks' after Spring 2012, which is equivalent to Thanksgiving 2012."

I am so very excited we are being gifted what appears to be another gem in the coaster lineup.

Cheers to everyone!

RE: 2012 Coaster

Guys: Until BGW themselves actually says to the public: "This ride will be named..." You can't really confirm it. You have no sources other than a vague picture.

RE: 2012 Coaster

You guys are all just excited for this new coaster. Someday you'll see through it and realize the name is a horrible childish pun that makes a mockery of the German language!

I think there was some clever guy in the BGW coaster naming team that either quit, was fired, passed away, etc. and was responsible for some of the better coaster names. How the heck do you go from DrachenFire and Alpengeist to "Verbolten"? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU BUSCH!?

IT'S NOT A BAD NAME! AHHHHHH!

YES IT IS! AHHHHHHHH!

RE: 2012 Coaster

when ever I say Verbolten it feels like someone is cutting out my tongue with a butter knife. Much better than UUUUUUUUber-bahn and the other names but it still doesn't sound right.

Name sounds just fine to me. Now if we are going to argue about the name lets actually present a real point as to why it is bad and not exaggerate and say it's bad for no real reason at all.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Look at it this way guys: It's a better name than DarKastle, Celtic Fyre, Europe in the Air, Mix it Up, or Mach Tower. Hopefully they're improving.

[rant]I have reasons why I find the name terrible:1. "Verbolten" is not a real German name/word. It's a play on words with "verboten" which in German means "forbidden". They added the "L" making it "bolt" because of the coasters anticipated fast speed. They think it's clever but really it's a lame pun that sounds like it was made up by a 10-year-old for an RCT3 creation.2. I know BGW isn't a museum but it does (or at least used to) provide some educational values to children and adults alike, teaching people about European customs, culture, languages, mythology, history, etc. I bet after this ride opens: many park-goers are going to think "Verbolten" is a real German word when really they mean to say "verboten".3. I really think BGW should be trying to come up with more clever names and not resort to puns. You have Alpengeist, that coaster has an awesome name! It sounds cool, it rolls of the tongue, and it sounds scary. Translated to English and it means: "Ghost of the Alps." Awesome! "Verbolten" on the other hand, they just took "verboten", added an "L" and made a pun. Translate this to English and it means: "Forbiddlen". That's not a word! In all honesty I would like the name (or hate it less) if they just dropped the "L" and called it "Verboten". Maybe add something to it like "Verbotene Wald" (Forbidden Forest), "Verboten Straße" (Forbidden Road), or "Verbotenen Weg" (Forbidden Path). (Just some examples.)So yea, In conclusion: Those are the reasons why I hate that name! I think it's insulting to the park, insulting to the German language, insulting to the Wolf, and insulting to me![/rant]

RE: 2012 Coaster

Listen. Arrow. No disrespect, but "Big Bad Wolf" isn't really the most creative of names....

Verbolten is true to the rides theme and characteristics. It's quite fitting. I wouldn't call it a pun so much as a "play on words." It's a very appropriate name and one original enough to make a lasting impact.

Speaking of things not spelled correctly, "Giffon" should be called "Griffin".....
