RE: 2012 Coaster

the coaster barn is on the opposite side of the path....I think they would have that "path" coming from the road behind bitten...that way they can make a dedicated road to the event building and Y off to the coaster barn. They can still have a walking path near the bridge, but the coaster barn is better served by trucks.

RE: 2012 Coaster

I do hope they have the teaser videos of the POV (Starting September) leading up to mid October when they release the full video and announce the details like BGT did with CH. At least I'd have something to look forward to during the School Year. XD

RE: 2012 Coaster

Teasers! Yay!~

It's a good bet that an announcement will probably come some later this month. The park will likely want to space out the HOS announcement stuff with this one. OR they could just have one huge media event for it all. Too bad I'm not the one with media connections.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Its interesting how they can lay ALL the footers in the "black hole" so accurately. One of the pic looks as if there is "mock track" that they use to measure distances or whatever from footer to footer. Has anyone else noticed that? Anyone know exactly how they can place the footers exactly where track will be later? Simple Trig huh...

They now have some signs on the wall going down the path from Germany to Italy hinting at what is coming. Some pics of the signs and the hole, you can see the rebar sticking out of a couple of footers.

Hmm, when I posted the last entry I saw was at 4:32. Oh well couple more views.

After looking at the pictures (3rd and 4th pic to be exact) I am starting to think the name probably will be Verbolten. Notice the white shield with the Thunderbolt in it.

You and I are both in agreement! The V-shaped shield with the bolt is very telling. However, I do wonder if there will be a suffix to the "Verbolten" prefix, like Verbolten: ------- of the ------- or something to that effect...

Either way, I am super glad to see the hype building, although if they wait till Thanksgiving-ish for a true announcement/teaser site, I will be disgruntled/annoyed/angry/sad. :s

Excellent pictures folks!

RE: 2012 Coaster

Have I ever mentioned that I like the name Verbolten?

I'm interested how they would show a POV of this ride without giving too much away about the event building. Does anyone know if 13 had a rendered preview?

It would probably just fade to black and not show what happens in the event building.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Maybe if we bug them enough on Facebook about how we all know theres a drop section in the event building they'll just show it :p

RE: 2012 Coaster

13 had a promo video where they showed a stopped coaster, then it falling and disappearing into the floor IIRC.

Yep Thirteen's TV advert gave away the drop as did local news reports shown on TV the morning that the ride opened. One TV report ended with someone saying that it was the world's first vertical freefall drop on a coaster. Though the majority of people that do ride it for the first time tend not to know what it does inside the building.

And that's why they told you that your geometry class in high school really would be valuable! :)
But really, lasers. Laser leveling and measuring have made precision construction far, far easier than it used to be. They can get remarkable accuracy with the tools they use, and even then, there is some small amount of leeway built into bolting patters on the footers and such for fine tuning.

RE: 2012 Coaster

I wonder then what that long "track" looking thing is?

Its Zoomy's pic on pg 55, the second one...

RE: 2012 Coaster

^ I'm pretty sure that's jut rebar. I imagine we still have a month or two before we can even think about seeing any track.

RE: 2012 Coaster

If it was any sort of scale then it wouldn't just be laying there like that. That can compromise its integrity too easily.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't suggesting it was track. But what I was suggesting was that it was perhaps a "tool" used by the workers to mimic track, with the proper dimensions of what they need to measure from footer to footer. But I know nothing of roller coaster construction.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Ugh... They're seriously going for that God-awful name!? That name pisses on the German language. (Pardon my French... or in this case pardon my German...)

Also, if this forum software had a vomiting face emoticon, I would use it as a visual representation on how I fell about said name. :dodgy:

If you are talking about the piece next to the red truck that is a section of rebar that goes into the hole when they drill it, then they pour concrete over it and at some point there will be bolts set into the concrete to mount the track support. Like someone said they use lasers and GPS to get exact locations for the holes and footers. They aren't using anything physical to get the locations.
