RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Disclaimer: I have consumed large quantities of caffeine today. The following post may or may not reflect this fact.

Weekly blog updates for Project 2012:
2012 construction has really picked up in the last week so Chris and I have decided that it would be beneficial to start posting regular 2012 updates to the main site. The problem is, we can't be there every week. The good news is that lately there have been some excellent 2012 pictures posted to the forums on a pretty regular basis. Why not pull them from the users? Basically all you have to do is post a few pictures to this tread (like I have below) and if they're good, we're use them. If we do choose to use them, you will be contacted beforehand via PM for permission and they will be watermarked with the BGWFans logo and your username (or anything else you desire) unless you request otherwise. I'm not sure how often these updates will be (weekly or biweekly most likely) but it will all depend on how many pictures we get.

Time for another 2012 update! This update is brought to you by the guy with no shame who endured ridicule and laughter to take these pictures. You better enjoy them...

WARNING: Big Bad Wolf fans beware. The inside of the station is being ripped to bits.

Huge hole in the ground. Really, these pictures can't possibly show how massive this thing is.

On a lighter note: who knows what they found underneath that floor after 26 years

Haha what a mess I'm sure...I'm very glad they are using BBW's station, it will be such a nice sense of nostalgia boarding this creation where its predecessor once reigned. The degree of theming needed for this coaster seems to warrant A LOT of renovation from those pictures, not to mention the queue line will need a major extension.

How many riders per train should we expect on this thing?

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

From what we have gathered... the theme: A team of scientists are studying the odd disappearances of those who had journeyed into the infamous Black Forest (as experienced in the queue). The riders are loaded into Porshe themed trains then catapulted into a wild off road adventure through the Black Forest. The ride will have the passengers encounter the "Spirit of the Black Forest" and barely escape it's clutches!

Or that's at least from what I expect.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Well its pretty much official Big Bad Wolf is no longer a part of BGE pretty much nothing is left of it.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

lets hope it's not like Backlot Stunt Coaster. I like that ride and all, but it jerks you around TOO much, like ALL the rides at KD

They said 16 a while back.

That sounds like a small capacity for the type of coaster they're trying to build. That's like a kiddie coaster sized train.

The ride will probably be able to run up to 5 trains at once.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Yeah, isn't that what we determined looking at the plans? In 2 years it'll probably run 2 haha

I'm not worried about the capacity of the trains

As long as it never gets to KD's 1 at a time which works out like this:

"There's no line, AWESOME"
<15 minutes later>
"Finally"
<30 seconds later and off the ride already>
"That ride sucked"

That's ridiculous, Fit it with three big trains not five small trains!

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

I really thought it would be 20 or somewhere in the 18 to 26 range... 16 is wayyyy too small in my mind.

Comparing numbers to a somewhat similar ride. Maverick has 6 trains which seats 12 people total each train. Crunching the numbers on Maverick it will have a max capacity with no lag around 1700 people an hour.
-Now on terms for BGW's coaster, although nothing has been confirmed yet... Lets say 16 minimum, 26 max with five trains and a circuit time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Each train will have to unload and load in a time of 30 seconds to avoid stacking. One hour is 3600 seconds and given the 30 second dispatches there will be 120 circuits in one hour. With 16 riders per train the max capacity with no delays is 1920 people per hour, and with 26 it goes up to 3120. Those sound like decent numbers but with guests being stupid and loose items and all other sorts of jazz it could drop to like 1000-2000 people an hour.

I don't really know how credible my numbers are, but guest issues really kill capacity.

And to Swiftman's pictures of where the event building is going, are those BBW's old footers in the dirt or something else?

That's easier said than done.

You need to take into consideration of the the size and weight of a larger train and the ability to launch them at proper velocity. And the launch sections are probably designed to handle smaller trains at once.

Plus, if they run 5 trains at maximum capacity they'll be able to have many riders on it. I read on other message boards that BGT was sending out Cheetah Hunt trains every 40 seconds using the dual loading station. Those trains hold 16 passengers each and with that launch interval that gives the coaster 1440 riders per hour.
