RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Watching it with a schematic beside it open it made me cringe.

 I hope it's not that bad because that video made it feel like a we gonna die on a roller coaster feel to it LOL

This a 16-year-old looking at vague descriptions of the 2012 coaster's planned designs and incorporating them into a mediocre roller-coaster-designing software.

I would not worry too much about this.

I think if someone used no limits, it might look better.

"Better" but not "great."

I imagine the engineers and designers are using very high-end programs that you can't just buy at a store or download on your computer.

Nine times out of ten it is a program developed in house just for the designer.

Haha, or at all.

This is a quote from the no limits website...
Real RollerCoaster designers use this software

For fun. Hit engineering school and you learn fast just how many companies use their own software.

Aaron Rodgers plays Madden NFL but that doesn't mean he uses that to train.

Gravity Group uses No Limits. Granted, they have a professional version not available for everyone to download but they use it for more than just "fun."

IIRC the article that came out a while back was they use it purely for advertisement purposes since it is a widely used program.

There is a version for organizations that some smaller designers used but they have all been tweaked so much it doesn't resemble what we know. It is more or so used to import a companies CAD based program design into for a visual simulation. That's about it. Not actual designing or anywhere near it. 3Ds Max, Solidworks, etc. Real design programs.

The only tweaking available for professionals is allowing the companies to use a larger grid for making any coaster (e.g. The Voyage will not fit on the regular version if you try to build it to scale). They also can make some scenery to scale as well. That's about it. The animation still looks like No Limits graphics.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

On the topic of the coaster, somebody (can't remember who) said that there was something unusual about the drop at the event building and that they were am Engineer, did they ever figure out what it was?
