RE: 13: Your Numbers Up (2011 to Present)

Yeah, fear of strobes is supposed to be fear of lightning/thunder. I mean if you have a fear of strobes, that works too. Kill two birds with one stone :p

RE: 13: Your Numbers Up (2011 to Present)

So I went to HoS last night. I waited 30 minutes, at the most for 13. (Got in line at about 7:45)

Not only that, but it was flowing steadily inside. We stopped once! (Fear of Heights room naturally.) Not only that, but we didn't catch up to the group ahead of us!

What is this voodoo witchcraft?? Did I go in the right house? Did they finally get their act together to make people move? Or did I just get lucky?

Maze was in conga line mode when I went in earlier today. Either they were letting too many people in or that fear of heights room is the best room in the entire maze, which to be fair is true There was a posted hour wait, but the line was constantly moving making it only half that. I got stuck behind a family with kids. You could tell they weren't enjoying themselves. Once the conga line died down after the fear of heights room, they tried bolting out as fast as possible.

That makes me sad to think that such an awesome effect as the "fear of heights" can cause so many problems. I don't know (and don't really care) if this maze will return next year, but I think it's obvious that the scare is effective. If/when this maze retires, I would like for them to remember the parts that were effective, and learn from that. I think the park should develop a computer program that uses artificial intelligence to calculate the crowd/venue flow based on the crowd levels. That way, they wouldn't have so many problems with lines and back-ups.

RE: 13: Your Numbers Up (2011 to Present)

So I was thinking about this maze last night, while trying to fall asleep. I think the fear of mirrors should be moved towards the front of the house, and made into a sort of mirror maze.

I feel like that would be a lot more effective as a scare/fear than a couple of dirty broken mirrors at the end of the house.

Also I just have to say, the clown room made me more claustrophobic than the sheets. (I'm actually rather glad the clown room was as small as it was, because I did feel like I was going to have a panic attack in that room. So A+ on room theming??)

RE: 13: Your Numbers Up (2011 to Present)

I finally got my answer from a scare actor about what room is the room of darkness. The room of darkness is that long stretch from the nightmare room all the way through the room with hanging dirty clothes? and empty black rooms with the creepy little girls voice. I think they did a better attempt the first two years. This really is just pitiful, it was way too bright to be darkness. That is why it is called darkness.

Are you saying you have Coulrophobia and/or Claustrophobia? Just curious.
BTW, the following post in no way is meant to make light of any possible condition. It was already in the works before I saw your post. :)

Some 13 signage...

The only thing about that room I wish they had control over is the reflection of yourself in the mirrors. Seeing your hands kind of gives it away.

That info is innacurate. Darkness is room 11. After the spiders and before the strobe "thunderstorm" room...

RE: 13: Your Numbers Up (2011 to Present)

Really, I was going through I said aloud, I am trying to figure out what this room is about and the scare actor came out and said darkness. Still, right before the strobes is still really bright for darkness. They don't have a truly dark room, which is what I desire, like in the first year.

The exit sign doesn't help but it is very dark right when you walk in on the other side of the curtain. There's a member lurking in the darkness.

Sardogg, can you elaborate on the house in general. As far as the order of the rooms, and how they should be executed?

I can't say I have Claustrophobia, because I'm not afraid of being in small spaces. (I kinda like being in small spaces actually.) Coulrophobia however, I guess you can say I have. My fear used to be a lot worse, but I've gotten better. The clown room got me because it's closer to me than say Fear Fair was. There was more thrown at me at a single go, rather than "Okay I have this 10 minute house to walk through were things are spread out." :)

And you're fine. The pictures came out great!

No...

Seriously, I do not remember the order of the rooms altogether. I remember room 11 being darkness because I got the crap scared out of me. I went back through and figured it out. That being said, here are a list of the fears in no particular order...and I could be wrong on a couple...oh, and you ask how they should be executed...with less exit signs for starters...

Fear of the dentist
Fear of death
Fear of insects
Fear of the dark
Fear of going to sleep / bedrooms
Fear of the doctor
Fear of zombies
Fear of spiders
Fear of enclosed spaces
Fear of snakes
Fear of death
Fear of heights
Fear of thunderstorms (strobe is WAY to fast and more like a dance club versus tstorm IMO).

We went through Catacombs while it was still light outside, and could see NOTHING AT ALL. (Stupid choice, I admit.) We heard the actors, more than saw them. We were constantly lost and confused. It was what Fear of Darkness should be.
