X2's second dive loop is particularly violent and if you don't know to ride defensively, it's very possible to hit your head against the headrest and get a nice case of whiplash.

There's a difference between passing out due to fear and passing out due to whiplash.
But how are you supposed to prove that over just a basic pass out? The slingshot rides are violent and whip back and forth hard and the same thing can happen. Especially if you pass out of fear and then really start to get tossed

You'll recover pretty quickly if you pass out due to fear. If you watch those slingshot videos, everyone recovers at the end of the ride. It's a medical situation if you come back to the station passed out.

X2 is pretty notorious for giving people headaches as well. It's a pretty crazy ride, but the weird rocking motion the seats do magnifies any roughness the ride has. If you don't know how to ride, it can give you a nasty case of whiplash

@MrBradferd Have you been on X2?

I LOVE it, by the way, but I have to admit - if there’s any coaster in the U.S. that could potentially cause some damage to someone, X2 gets my vote. Hades is a close 2nd.

The rocking sensation is violent at times, with some incredibly abrupt changes in direction. Those sharp, small movements gave me a pretty significant headache.

That said, it wasn’t enough to stop me from riding it again later and still calling it one of the best coaster experiences in the U.S.

It’s just a brutal ride. Doesn’t surprise me that someone eventually got hurt on it.

I have not

Makes me wonder truly how long this coaster may have left….I know it’s a fan favorite and a bucket list ride for many, but when do you throw in the towel with how many people are getting hurt on this ride?
It desperately needs a retrack, but I doubt Cedar Flags would ever go for it. It's probably gone sooner than later. I'm betting on a giga dive to replace it.

I can't believe that over the last 20+ years S&S hasn't been able to use modern technology to smooth out these ride's rotations.

And SF hasn't bothered to retrack the more problematic sections of their star attraction?

Well, now they may be forced to, but why not willingly? Looks at what Knotts did with Ghost Rider.

From what I've heard, the incident occurred on the train that just came back from S&S and had only been put into service a week or two prior. I suspect that is part of the reason for an extensive investigation, as normally after an incident like this the ride gets an inspection to verify nothing is operating abnormally and then is cleared to reopen.

https://www.cnn.com/2026/08/27/us/six-flags-rollercoaster-brain-injury-invs

In the span of less than a week this July, surgeons at a Southern California hospital raced to save the lives of two women suffering from alarmingly similar brain hemorrhages.

The severe injuries were the kind doctors encounter in patients after high-speed collisions or other violent accidents that cause the brain to twist and slam inside one’s skull.

Neither woman, however, had been involved in a crash, fall or other such incident.

Instead, they had ridden an extreme roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain, known as X2, which draws thrill-seekers from around the world with its rotating seats, near-vertical drops and unpredictable movements. It has long been the park’s marquee attraction — promoted as a “[rite] of passage for the ultimate daredevil.”

But behind the ride’s legendary reputation lies a troubling record of serious injuries, a CNN investigation has found.

X2 has been linked to more than a dozen reports of serious injuries and hospitalizations over nearly two decades, a review of medical records, depositions and legal filings shows. Among the casualties are riders who suffered life-altering disabilities, fell into comas and two who died of their injuries. Park officials, meanwhile, have long fielded scores of complaints about other head and neck injuries sustained after riding the attraction, according to internal records cited by an expert witness for a plaintiff in court filings.

I mean if the ride is trash and that rough (which I hear it is from alot of people) This is a Son of beast situation, tear it down 🤷‍♂️
Lol the downvotes. If a ride is genuinly injuring people throughout time and recently, it's no different than Son of beast was

Rides can be fixed. Assuming X2's support structure is solid, Six Flags could retrack it and likely fix a lot of its ride quality problems. As far as I know both of its younger siblings ride notably better?

Ok what about those janky ass trains with very jerky rotations? The other ones don't do that. They flip freely vs x2 is very jerky

It's all downstream of the track (specifically the secondary rotation guide rails). Any potential renovation project would also likely entail new trains as new gen 4D track would likely require them), but from what I remember from El Toro Ryan's video, the foundational, core issue is imperfections in the rails.
