I came across a Facebook post of an individual in a photo with Chef Denis not too long ago. This person asked the Chef if the park thought about bringing something like 2020's "Taste of the Season" back for this years full 2021 Winterfest. Chef Denis stated they intend to do just that. Should be interesting to see if that pans out.
Kinda mixed feelings on that Taste was great but KD had long lines and short help in the food areas in 18, and 19 having to choose between fully staffed restaurants or short restaurants and specialty food booths I would take fully staffed especially with crowds we have seen for Winter Fest.

Winterfest Parade Floats are starting to arrive at the park.

I really want to see extended hours. If they can open on Saturdays from 2pm-12am for haunt there is no reason we can't get a 2pm-10pm for Winterfest. As a pass member from North Carolina, a three hour drive is hardly worth it for these half days.

Honestly I don't find holiday events that start middle of the day at parks all that entertaining as the vibe doesn't seem to really kick in till it starts to get dark.

That's a normal lineup for WF coasters, I think they stop operating when the thermometer is down to 40 degrees or less though I do remember even at slightly above that practically nobody was riding.

During this past week, the fountain on International Street has been drained, and they are beginning construction of the ice-skating rink.

So, nice to see the rink return again, since we didn't get it during last year's Taste of the Season event.

And a photo of the progress, from Friday's (10/15) Haunt:

The park has updated the site with all the different showtimes for the event. These are subject to change

A few things to note:
  • The lighting Spectacular is at 5:15
  • The parade does not have a set time as of yet, however, based on other showtimes, 9:00 is my guess
  • The 3 seated shows, Charlie Brown's Christmas spectacular, A Peanuts Guide, and Tinkers Toy Factory will all be showing at 5:30, 6:30, & 7:30.
  • Cool Yule Christmas and Holly Jolly trolley will be showing at 6:00, 7:00, & 8:00.
  • Four Drummers Drumming will be at 5:00, 6:30, & 7:30
  • The Milestones, Jingle Jazz, and sounds of the Nativity will be every hour on the hour, half hour, and quarter hour respectively

I am still sad that we lost the drummer show as I thought that was the best one that they had the previous years.

Based on what videos I've seen of the parade at Carowinds, most cast members from the major holiday shows are part of the parade. Makes sense that the big show productions final performances are either 7:30 pm or 8:00 pm. They have to get down to the parade staging area in costume to line up and march/perform.

Like the Carnivale parade in the summer, there are 2-3 stops along the route where the parade participants interact with the park visitors. A good number of "Merriment Characters" march in it or ride on one of the parade floats.

Some of the shows do have performances past 8:00 pm. Jingle Jazz has a 9:00 pm performance. Sounds of the Nativity has performances at 8:15 pm & 9:15 pm. The Mistletones have performances at 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm.

Hope they get rid of the horse carrige ride. Like cool idea but its not fun sitting and hanging in the main path by dropzone eating food and smell horse crap the entire time. Also are we really not allowed on the eiffel tower with the lights? Id LOVE to be able to go up there and look down on the string of lights and feel how cold it is up there lol

The carriage ride is/was one of my favorite attractions at Winterfest. That said, I would prefer if they did it the way Caro does (did?). They have a light display in an area that is only accessible to the carriages. It keeps the horses out of the main paths and provides a special experience for the riders.

That would be cool. Where would KD do it, or would they maybe build an area for it?

I am not sure of this information but I was told that they had looked at it but that the tower gets quite a bit of condensation on it as in the cooler weather and deemed the risk of someone slipping if they had to use the stairs do to a power or elevator issue to high.

Caro uses their water park. In the past, I thought Safari Village would have been a good location as it has always been closed during Winterfest. Now, Soak City seems like the easy answer.
That would be super super cool. I wonder if they would wrap lights around some of the slides, maybe throw some blue lights in the wave pool like busch does for pompeii
