We will be there whole heartedly supporting the Zoological Department. I'm also intrigued by some of the specialty food items they have mentioned. I am not, however, the least bit enthusiastic about either the weather or the COVID positivity rate.
The park is EMPTY right now. I know the weather isn't great but this really isn't a good start for them
They are holding everyone in Ireland right now but several zoo people stopped by briefly to go over and explain the presentation and incurage everyone to head to Fest House for the 6:30 presentation. Very nice jester.
it looks fairly similar to Celebration a few lights changes but not to many. I wanted to hit the first show early to insure I was close enough to get a good seat for pictures so I didn't look around to much. The state looks nice.
They are enforcing mask wearing among guest at the show who are not actively eating or drinking. Nice to see that hope that they can effectively do so with larger crowds.
I had thought about going tonight but with the rain and the fact the animal show was indoors, didn’t seem worth it. Will make a trip next weekend, probably - looking forward to everyone’s impressions.
The animals that are visiting came from San Diego and are part of their normal traveling education group. They would normally be doing school visits to educate about conservation.
Had a really nice time despite the weather tonight. The two gentlemen doing the annimal presentation were both very entertaining as well as educational. The animal ambassador that were out in the parks were also really fun to see. My only minor gripe is that I would have liked to have seen one or two of our in park annimals worked into the presentation at Fest House it just feels like a shame not to showcase the parks wonderful zoo program on that stage to.
I included one of the better shots that I got of the hawk tonight also links to the photos that I posted on Instagram sorry the lighting was really bad and I didn't get to many decent ones.

So, we went to Winter Weekends today, and I thought it was a much better event than Christmas Celebration. It felt as if there was more to do and see than previous events.
The park has partnered with several animal organizations, all of which had stations set up around the park. The keepers and animals were both really interesting. I even got to pet a fox! I was, however, disappointed that the Richmond Metro Zoo wasn’t there today, so I missed the penguin chick.
SEAS also had their own animal ambassadors in a show in the Festhaus. The show was easily the most interesting animal presentation I have seen at BGW. For me the joey and lemur were real highlights, and I actually learned something new about most of the animals.
Additionally, there are large silhouettes of animals on walls around the park. They appear to be part of the scavenger hunt, but we couldn’t tell for sure, since we couldn’t find the guide. Regardless, the QR codes linked to cool animal facts, which seems to point to serious effort by the planners.
While I probably would have liked the specialty food to be more creative, there were a nice variety of doughnuts, caramel apples, burgers, fries, kettle corn, funnel cakes, and cocktails all themed to animals. The tiger, zebra, and unicorn doughnuts are below.
There was not a ton of new merchandise, but there did seem to be a wider variety of plush animals and animal-themed masks around the park.
I can’t really comment if the children’s crafts, but they didn’t seem to be the usual activities.
I wasn’t sure what to expect today, but I was very pleasantly surprised.
I was really impressed with Winter Weekends yesterday. The park did a phenomenal job with the programming for this event! And the $10 Busch Bucks went to good use.
That said, I was somewhat surprised there wasn't a larger crowd in the park. The weather was as close to as good as it can get in January.
I've heard the numbers were really low, does anyone know about that? I wonder how they compare to expectations? I thought it seemed like a decent number Saturday night, but no coasters were going.
