The back half of the mountain was in rough shape, but the park already completed their multi million dollar renovation of that back section.

Thanks to WorldofJohn for this shot (watermarked accordingly):

  • They're being awfully nice with the supports and the track even though everything is getting cut up.
  • They spent multiple millions of dollars over multiple years and we finally get a good shot of just how much "progress" KD made on refurbing the mountain.
  • The more perspective shots I see of the condition of the mountain the more I believe it's just going to get imploded and cleared.
  • HOLY SHIT is it in bad condition.

I was there yesterday and looked at the mountain. It's rough, looks like crap in the pictures, but in person it still looks cool and amazing! Of course the coaster looks ready to take a ride on too so far, except for the fence, haha. Mostly I could see nothing where there should be track, you can't really see the ends. As to the holes in the volcano, probably just removal of anything loose or cracked.

Everyone has their bias and opinions and seem to be sticking to them regarding the mountano, which is a big reason I don't entirely trust what is predicted. CF has been stepping up their theming, why would they remove a huge theming device? but theirs are designer relic'd not a big pile of brown stucco.

As to the $250,000 ("valuation"?) they could use other companies for hauling and other later stuff, also continuing after the June 1 date.

Dude repairing that thing is gonna be crazy expensive vs just bulldozing it and creating a better ground up ride. They didn’t even bother to finish refurbishing it.

Let's be real though. We talk about service life for rides all the time. It makes perfect sense for a scenic structure to reach the end of its service life too. And by looking at the photos and what I've seen over the years, that mountain is ready to go. It's been modified so many times by this point it would just be better to rebuild it from the ground up if they want to have a mountain there for future attractions.

The only "bias" anyone should have is for the facts. We should be focused on what we actually know, as opposed to what we believe or want. Opinions are not useful data, no matter how emotionally they are presented.

I do think a replacement is coming sooner rather than later if they’re starting deconstruction/demolition this early. Usually parks just leave the ride up if they don’t have any idea what they’re gonna do.

Where does the line occur between this thread and the now defunct thread for Volcano?

I feel like we are well past the initial discussion of the announcement.

I think the line's trapped in the mountain somewhere.

Let's destroy the mountain to find it. /s

I think its entire removal process belongs here as it is news. That said, down the line, this thread may end up merged with the Volcano thread.
