I noticed the blue train's lights weren't on and one of the trains has a broken/dead headlight. If only a cop would write them a ticket :p

I'm hearing that Verbolten suffered a massive shutdown today. If you're headed to the park tomorrow, I'd love to hear a report. Sounds like maintenance will be hard at work overnight but I wouldn't bet on it opening tomorrow. If anyone knows more, please send it in.

I know a bit more that I should be able to share soon, just trying to get the details worked out. Regardless, it doesn't really sound good.

Ok, here we go.

The locations of the trains are as follows: Trains 1, 2, and 3 were in the station. Train 4 (the orange train) was on the block before the Rhine River bridge, and train 5 was on the bottom stage of the drop track.

Now, before train 5, the train on the bottom stage of the drop track, can leave the drop track and enter the launch (the next block section) train 4 must completely clear the Rhine River bridge block brake. This is done to keep each train on its own block rendering collision impossible. Now, I'm not exactly sure what happened next, but what I do know is that a massive system fault of some kind allowed train 5 to leave the drop track before the block before it was cleared and thus, causing the ride to go into complete lockdown. The result of this was the first 2 or 3 cars of the orange train hanging off the end of the Rhine River bridge block and the 5th train to be stuck halfway off the drop track block. It sounds like the front of the orange train was evacuated using a full harness and cable setup from the catwalks on the bridge and I imagine something similar was done for train #5 as well.

Basically, it sounds like a system fault allowed train 5 to enter the block section occupied by the train in front of it which caused a full system shutdown. So now the park has to find a way to get trains 4 and 5 back to the station and then presumably work with Zierer to try to figure out what caused the fault in the first place. Not a fun time.

I guess it was around early September of last year. I took it again earlier this year as well though. Maybe I'll get a full post on it done one day.

I know how you feel. I have tons of stuff I would love to get written and finished- but "life" gets in the way. Bills, laundry, dinner... sleep.

And we want MORE gimmicky roller coasters for the next time they get around to building another one? Once I rode this ride, I KNEW this kind of thing would happen & trust me, it won't be the last. Let's get back to basics. Build an old-fashioned woodie & have none of these stupid technical issues....

It's not necessarily because it's gimmicky. It's because the issue is with the block system, which is on every coaster in the world. The computer itself faulted and mixed up the commands (guessing) and sent the train out, but then because it sent the train out, it then locked the entire ride system.

The fix is really simple. Push the train off the bridge that way the block that the train on the drop track is on becomes clear or pull the train back onto the drop track so it's not on the same block, then reset the system. The tricky part is figuring out why it happened and how to keep it from happening again. More work is going to be put into this fault because it is a fault that could have caused a collision between the trains. But, nonetheless, this can happen to any coaster.

Also there is probably a bit more to happen because it's life and it's never that easy. Like an issue that they will have to work through is pushing/pulling the trains because the friction brakes are grasping the train tightly to prevent it from moving and they can't release them because the entire system is pretty much locked. So they will have to manually release the brakes and all that good stuff. Just think... the brakes are holding the train in place as it's already leaning over the edge.

FAL N ROX(no not the user) was out of service today, and inside the maintenance bay. I suspect minor problems, but I just thought I'd tell you guys.

(For those of you who don't know what FAL N ROX is, it is the Green Trains license plate on Verbolten)

V-bolt broke down three times yesterday. The green train was running, then they took it off.

^^ Meanwhile, Nessie keeps trucking on. V-bolt not gimmicky my foot....If it's acting up like this only one year into it's existence, what do you think upkeep is gonna be like 10 years from now? They'd just as well bring a new updated version of BBW back....

I've ridden V-bolt 5x and I have NO idea what goes through the heads of those who say it's the best thing since sliced bread. It isn't.

^^^^ Griffon broke down towards the end of the night too. Griffon has been really bad with maintenance this year, every time I've been there it has broken down at least once. But I'll give you a write up about Griffon's break down last night, let's just say that it broke down at the wrong time.

It's still a fairly new ride, so it's bound to have issues. Griffon and most definitely DarKastle had their fair share of shutdowns after their debut years. Apollo and Alpengeist still have their kinks to work out 10+ years into their operation.

I'm sure Loch Ness had its fair share of shutdowns early in its lifespan too. I recall Loch Ness getting stuck on the lift a few times I've gone to the park.

Whenever Nessie breaks down on the lift, it's usually a setup and not an actual problem. Whenever Verbolten breaks down, it's usually an actual problem.

Can we please get past the whole downtime issues? No ride has 0% downtime, get over it, it is bound to have issues every so often. At least it isn't breaking down every other day like some other ride I know just across the pathway, now that is a problem.

Most likely it was because some one was using their cell phone and the ride op caught them on camera, and protocol says to stop the ride until they put it away.

Or if it was on the second lift then it was most likely because they had a back up in the station , and were running 3 trains, so the block system stops the train in order for it not to crash into the train on the block brakes behind the building.

The massive shutdown that wasn't really a massive shutdown? Ehh.

Not sure if anyone notice but one of the trains has a dead headlight; one works the other doesn't.
