RE: Verbolten

What to expect on Verbolten this weekend
The lines will be long at any given point this weekend. This is a new coaster with tremendous hype around it. There will be people at the gates well before opening waiting to ride and even more coming throughout the course of the day and rest of the weekend. Plan on the lines averaging around two hours at any given. Posts asking how will be it be X time or Y time are not needed.

That being said, please do not make irrelevant posts inquiring of wait times for the attraction this weekend. They are unneeded, clutter the thread, and WILL be deleted. No poster, admin, nor moderator here can read the future but can use rationale for prediction.

RE: Verbolten

Alot of my friends that rode it this past weekend said the event building was like pitch black dark, if this is true then why? Isn't that the point to see the things in there?

Who here think the yellow train will actually be back from vacation Friday? I for one don't. I'm assuming there waiting on parts.

Not only do they have to get the parts, they then have to make the repairs and complete the required testing before it's ready to go. I don't know where in that process they might be right now, but lets hope it's pretty far along. I'm holding my breathe that it'll make an appearance on Friday. If it doesn't... :-/

RE: Verbolten

^It is today and is currently going on as we speak. They have already allowed the media on Verbolten. I know this because 96.1 is broadcasting there right now and they said the ride was great.

RE: Verbolten

I'm planning to hit the park early Friday. Looks like Italy will be my best bet to get to Verbolten ASAP. Being that I've rarely gotten to the park pre-noon, this is just a guess. Any suggestions?

RE: Verbolten

I had the chance to ride Verbolten today, and, before describing the ride details, I will just say that I was thoroughly impressed. I thought that everything about the ride was incredibly well-executed. The theming, the story, the ride itself--I loved it.

Speaking of story, Gerta and Gunter put on a nice display, especially Gerta ;) (uhhhhh Busch...does family park ring a bell?)

I rode 9 times in most of the rows on the train, including once in front and several in back. The front and back give completely different ride experiences, and I think the front better. As for the rattle, I noticed it (as other people have said, only outside the event building), but do not think it detracted from the ride at all. My friend did not notice it at all, calling it a "smooth ride." To me it was even less of a rattle and more of a buzzing, but that might just be splitting hairs.

As for the rough vs. snappy, I would have to fall on the snappy side of the argument. The ride does throw you around in a couple places (particularly coming into the turn after the initial launch and the turn going into the airtime hill at the end). But to me it was more quick than being rough.

The videos really do not do the event building justice. All the things they have in there are amazing. It is not pitch black except during the helix (make sure to look left right before the first block). The drop track was a nice surprise, not too long, but enough to make an impression. Someone commented on how they disliked how every time it started it seemed to get stopped by a block. I disagree, and only wish the bridge block wasn't there (I mean imagine the airtime...if only...).

The last thing I will say is that I disagree with saying this ride fits nicely in the "family coaster" category. I think this straddles the line between family and thrill, which is something I think Busch intended to do. The second launch has a real kick to it, and the helix into the first block is the only the second ride to make my vision fade. Take that as you will.

Busch has a winner on their hands, something that everyone is going to love. Any negatives that I can come up with are from looking at the ride under an uber-critical eye. I can't wait to ride again!

There is no airtime spots at all on this ride... airtime comes from hills like Apollos has (not necessarily that high..but the transition its hills has)...all Verbolten does is take and launch you up two hills instead of using a lift hill, only gets you up to just over 50mph...and spins you in a couple helix spins.

Hopefully from the videos on here its looking like some of the special effects may not have been working properly when I was on the ride (5/12/2012)... I really hope thats the case because other than that I dont see whats the difference honestly between this ride and the Grover Coaster in the Forrest of Fun....all you would need to do is make the ride a little longer and place it inside a building with some strobe lights almost and then have it dip down 90feet....

Will BG please put a real launch coaster, flyer or 4D coaster in.... pretty please....

You obviously haven't been on this ride yet... true there aren't as many airtime hills as apollo's chariot, but this was not designed to give you a bunch of air time... The first hill in the building, the free-fall drop, and the last bunny hill during the photo are the biggest areas of air time... I think Verbolten is a GREAT mix of everything Busch has to offer... and if you were expecting the next "World's Tallest and Fastest Roller Coaster," you are sadly mistaken

What hill in the building...you are shot into the building up a hill and it flattens out and goes into a helix... if there is a hill there its so weak theres no point to it being there then especially if its as weak as the supposed "bunny hill" you claim is at the end of the ride...yes theres a brief up and down movement of the track....

Sorry "air time" means I come out of my seat if I leave the restraint a little loose. The only time it was needed was for the free fall drop...

The free fall drop is not a hill its a drop.

Makes me curious if he has actually ridden it.

When "Nesse" opened it WAS the Talles, Longest, Fastest coaster in the world....

With that said...I never expect BG to ever break the 100 barrier...but 50-53 mph.....and no loops or rolls of any kind?????? WEAK!!!! I really do think the fact that the ride stops 3 times on the ride is what kills it...it really did feel like your stopped for the same amount of time that you are actually moving on the ride....

So is asking for a coaster like X2, Manta or something like that just asking to much??? They spent over 50million on this coaster... you would think it would do a little more than it does for that price when there are much better coasters out there built for even half that price.

  1. 50mph is quite a respectable speed for a family coaster.
  2. We have plenty of inversions in the park. No real need for more right now.
  3. You didn't expect them to go over 100 feet but you wanted a top speed above 50mph and inversions...?

  4. The park's goal was to add a unique experience to their park. Verbolten fits the bill perfectly. Anyone can build a flyer by calling up B&M and anyone can order a 4D coaster from S&S with a wad of cash. Something like Verbolten takes much more than that. It requires creativity, a daring manufacturer, and some very, very deep pockets.
  5. So, you never really answered the question... Did you actually ride Verbolten?

RE: Verbolten

@ REG:
Kings Dominion, Hershey Park and Cedar Point are currently open for your 80+MPH, 300+ foot tall, multi- inversion fix. Make your road trip there if Verbolten is little more than a merry - go - round for you, IF you have even ridden.

Always a believer in "Don't knock it until you lock it" - (your restraint, that is). :exclamation:

Are we really going to talk about the price of Verbolten, which entails so many unseen variables unrelated to the actual design of the ride to equaling its value in ride pleasure??

Next forum, please.

RE: Verbolten

Really ...a negative reputation point?? Are we like in grade school here? I guess I am not entitled to an opinion at all? I havent attacked a single person on here and all I have seen is were I have been questioned left and right as to if I rode this ride and now given a negative reputation point....wow...lame....

Sorry I dont slurp this coaster and wish BG had put 53million to better use... build a real coaster and another kiddie coaster for all I care... I really dont think its that much to ask for a coaster on the level of the big 4 in the park especially if your going to try and sell shirts saying "5x the fury"...what fury does this ride offer???? As you said its a "family coaster"...so that means there are 4x the fury coasters.... :)

To answer your questions....
1) 50mph is lame ....even Nesse hits 60.
2) There is not a single reverse dive loop in the park...nor a batwing so sorry I think there is room for improvement
3) Correct...I dont expect them to go over 100mph because of the whole Kingsmill deal... but testing 80 I dont think is something that shouldnt be tried for. The inversions part refer to #2
4) So Im supposed to be impressed that they built a weaker coaster for double the price?? Sounds like buying high and selling low to me :) (not a bash on you Swiftman..just my thought)
5) Yes I rode the ride...twice... in fact I even mentioned in a post about the inside not being lit up as much as what the video showed it to be (the videos just posted today) ...I really do hope that adds alot. I also was the first to mention about the downtimes on Saturday if you go back and look.

To me the ride basically blasted you as you were beginning two hill climbs and then ran you around in circles in the dark and dropped you. Yes I liked the drop track very much....but the fact the ride stops you 3 times just kills the flow of the ride to me. I think had they added Gunter talking to you as you entered the "black forest" and interacted with the wolf, lightning or spirit inside it would have added so much more. Iits not a bad ride if its supposed to be on the level of say Dark Kastle but if its supposed to be compared to Appolos, Griffon, Nesse or Alpengheist it just doesnt come close to me.

So go ahead and give me another negative reputation point...I know your going to ....lol

I really love how nobody in this world today can accept other peoples opinions when they differ from there own. Yes I differed from there but all I did was say ...I disagree...I never questioned someones character as to if they rode a ride .....or to put it simply....calling them a liar....

RE: Verbolten

The reason they made verbolten not as thrilling is because they removed big bad wolf, an intermediate coaster, and needed to replace it with another intermediate coaster... Verbolten is a great switch... More like an awesome switch... I am almost certain that the next coaster will be a mega thrill coaster (many inversions, very fast, super long, etc)... Theme parks usually switch between adding family rides and thrill rides... They added Mach (more like mock) Tower for the thrill junkies and Verbolten for smaller guests... Not to say that verbolten is not thrilling (I think it's more thrilling than a lot of other coasters I have ridden), but is definitely not Top Thrill Dragster
