RE: Verbolten
Disclaimer: I have yet to ride it so I'm not going to defend the ride or any of its elements but I do feel the need to defend the reasoning behind it.
$54 million is about on par with other rides of its type. I hate to bring Revenge of the Mummy back into this, but it was $45 million almost a decade ago. The park had a large hole in its lineup after the Wolf left and at the very least, the concept of Verbolten fills that hole perfectly.
1) In my defense, Nessie is also over 100ft.
2) We actually don't have any diving loops. Diving loops enter at the top while immelmanns (the reverse of a diving loop) enter from the bottom (Griffon: 2x | Alpengeist: 1x). I understand what you're saying though. We have 10 inversions split up among 3 of our 6 coasters. The remaining 3 are Apollo's Chariot (B&M Hyper- focuses on airtime), Grover's Alpine Express (kiddy coaster), and now Verbolten (darkride coaster). I believe that rounds out our collection quite well to be perfectly honest. That is just my opinion though.
3) Would be great if it wasn't aimed at the family. When people talk about other darkride coasters, they don't talk about specs and records, they talk about the ride experience.
4) Don't worry about it- not taking any of this personally.
5) Indeed. Sorry about questioning that, it just almost looked like you dodged that question above.
I'll hold off on debating the actual ride experience till after I have ridden it.
