RE: Verbolten

I learned a little more about verbolten today! I learned that there has to be a minimum seven people to run the ride total. there are 2 positions inside the event building. and there are 3 different shows that will go on in the event building, I can't remember what they are called though. ad I saw the queline today it was really nice

RE: Verbolten

I was at the park today and Verbolten was testing with executives, designers, and the heads of the entertainment department riding. I was told that these people were riding to ensure that all of the special effects were timed correctly and exactly. I was also told that I could not bribe the guy in front of Verbolten to sneak me in for a ride. :p

RE: Verbolten

I do know that full time and part time employees can ride whenever they are testing, so I would assume they will ride over the next few days

RE: Verbolten

Don't know if this a rehash but the estimated ride capacity is 2400 persons/hour ( though they told me it will never reach this amount as that accounts for everything going perfectly).

I was also greatly impressed with the sound effect they have leaving the station ( down to the engine rumble moving away as the train leaves. If there is as much detail inside as there is with this little thing I will certainly stand impressed.

RE: Verbolten

They shouldn't hand out cards. Someone should just tell you where to go like Disney.

RE: Verbolten

...

I wonder how much front row cards will be going for on opening day. Start the bidding at $30?

RE: Verbolten

I am wondering why they didn't go with on board audio as well and or vibrating seats..

Also I think the bridge needs to look more disfunctional and more brokeb beams because looking at it from the Oktoberfest bridge it looks like a perfectly normal bridge..

ALSO. I'm super excited to see the possible multiple webcams of Verbolten! :D

RE: Verbolten

I was just at BGT a few weeks ago and road Cheetah Hunt... They had an attendant telling you which train to go towards but not which queue specifically to get in.

I think in general people will fill a brand new ride up. If anything handing those cards out and having to have them handed back to the attendants and what not is going to just cause longer waits. One specific time of it happening wont take but a few seconds but thats a few seconds that adds up with EACH train that is run the entire day....

Im pretty sure they wont have to worry about trains not being full for at least the first year. Cheetah Hunt was a year old and its lines still were reaching 45mins or more at a time and that was with them running 4 or 5 trains.

As for the loading of Verbolten Im sure it will be just like Cheetah Hunt. Theyll load both the coasters...the first one will shoot out and the other train will leave the station far enough that two more trains can come in and start unloading and reloading. Hopefully they will just always run 5 trains and not try to micro-manage how many trains there are and then play the game of adding or removing a train due to lack of a queue line or to long of a queue line like they seem to do lately with all the other rides.

Either way it should be a great ride.... I just wish it went a little faster than 50 some miles per hour.... I do wish too they would have had you fall closer to the water at the end than what they did. Cheetah Hunt you can almost touch the water when your in the canyon banking from side to side.

I just hope there is a soft oppening this coming weekend :)

RE: Verbolten

Staffing at major attractions is highly dependent on the number of people in the park. I'm sure the grouping function will only be used when the park is busy.

With the minimum of 7 people on the ride, that means at low attendance you have 1 entrance, 1 controls, 2 in the building, and only three left for the platform. Seems like that means the ride would be operated with one loading platform and probably three trains at that point.

Not even for front seats. It's the luck of the draw.

This has been the plan. I confirm every time I go (including today) if it still is the plan and I'm always told "yes, but it could change." They understand about the front seat issue, but they said the queue is just too narrow to try to accommodate long lines for the front (and back) row. We'll see...

Yes, they do do that at Disney parks, however, if you make a request when you're assigned a row, the cast members are accommodating. I've never been told "no" whenever I've asked to sit in the front on any Disney attraction. I'd assume things would work the same way with Verbolten.

RE: Verbolten

^We hope so. Let us know what happens when you ask for a specific row when you're there for us. Or anyone for that matter.

RE: Verbolten

Yeah, whilst I don't get this stupid ticketing system*, I know full well that if you request where to sit there won't be an issue. It's like this with Swarm at Thorpe, where they direct you to sides, but if you go "do you mind if I go on the other side" they go "yeah sure you just might have to wait longer" and I'm like "dats cool".

*It doesn't work, as guests always ignore staff, so systems that promote common sense are best. In an ideal situation, the queue should pass by or preferably over the loading platform so guests can see exactly how many people per row and what they will have to do, criticise those making mistakes (thats what human beings do best) and be prepared. The other amazing thing about queues like this? Then you need to hire less staff. Thoughtful design is of incredible benefit in being efficient. I always feel like these kind of systems are to compensate for bad design. Swarm has no front row queue in the station, and a member of staff directing rows. Front row queuers have joined a special queue during the main queue, and are given a ticket to essentially push past everyone to go to the front. You can imagine what havoc that can cause, and not only that but people ignore the staff member directing to rows and go for front anyway, only to be told to move. Siiiigh. I suspect in the USA, where people actually communicate with one another, it wont be so much of a problem because if someone wanted front they'd just say. In the UK, they wouldn't because people are jerks, and would just ignore and take front row as if it doesn't matter, waiting for someone else to fix their mess.

RE: Verbolten

What do you think they would say if you asked "if I wait until after you fill this train, can I get the front row card?"

And I would guess that if you tried to go to a different row than assigned, they collect the cards when you get to the front of the line and you would be asked (told) to go to your assigned row

As I understand it on board audio makes the trains heavier and many times requires taking out a row of seats ( if someone could confirm these as the main drawbacks of on-board audio).

As far as the bridge yeah the steal beams going down to the ground don't make it look that rickety but it's too late in the game now to do anything about it.

Exactly! You get thrown in a roped off area and they pull you over as space opens up. I wish BGW did it like that. Everything is so neat and uncluttered with people.

RE: Verbolten

On board audio coasters in america: Bizarro @ Six Flags Great Adventure, Bizarro @ Six Flags New England, Apocalypse @ Six Flags Magic Mountain. Bizarro @ SFGA has two seats in the back row of each train removed for the batteries and hardware. Bizarro @ SFNE has the 7th row of the train removed for the hardware. Apocalypse has the last car reserved for the hardware. It takes up a lot of weight, but thankfully if placed right it just acts like 2 people are always riding in the spot that's alocated. Beyond this though it's a total pain to maintain from what I've heard and seen. The mechanics at Great Adventure constantly complain about Bizarro and the speakers failing and lately (as of the 2011 season) the speakers are esentially just left to rot, with no repairs made to them throughout the season.

Like The Italian Job? That ride had on-board audio, vibrating seats and a fishtailing effect. Two of those effect remain off due to tech problems. Verbolten has far more realistic cars with working headlights and on-board cameras. I think adding too much more would makes these cars a nightmare for the maintenance dept and probably make them a little too heavy.

The concept art looked awesome. It truly looked like a bridge and the supports for the track coming out of the bridge were themed to look like pieces of wood that broke off. Would've been awesome if it looked like the concept art.
