I didn't bring that back up because I doubted you guys, but to bring to your attention that they are claiming that there was no accident

Yeah, I had been told they were outright denying by some other people also. Not surprising.

RE: Verbolten

Four official looking maintenance guys (who walked into the building after I talked to them) outright denyed any incident as well.

RE: Verbolten

It probably goes something like this, the more official they look, the more fervent the denials. :p

RE: Verbolten

For what it's worth, the employee I spoke to outside V Friday acknowledged that the yellow car was "in maintenance", but wouldn't elaborate on why... He also assured me that all five would be running on the 18th. I say we put the crash behind us (particularly speculation) unless anyone has new, reliable info.

Now, has anyone gotten a first hand Verbolten account from a rider yet? How about any soft open confirmations or rumors? I WANNA RIDE!!!

RE: Verbolten

Pubic discovers accident = They don't ride = $50 million investment becomes worthless.

Anyone remember last year when the park covered up the Mach Tower accident? It would've been terrible press if that got out (even worse than the "two weeks from now" statements employees gave out - and even then, the opening date for that was pretty much undetermined until a week before). Oh yeah and Mach's problems are because it's a new ride/prototype.

RE: Verbolten

I found this on Amusement Today.com about Verbolten.
Busch Gardens reached another milestone last week when engineers and operators began Verbolten’s extensive ride-testing procedures. Ride testing is one of the final construction phases an attraction undergoes before it opens to guests.

“We will inspect every inch of Verbolten before it opens May 18,” said Larry Giles, Busch Gardens’ vice president of design and engineering. “We are confident that we will complete our work in time for our scheduled opening.”

Ride testing is a multi-step process designed to check and recheck every component of the roller coaster. It is a collaborative effort between the ride’s manufacturer, the park’s engineering team and Busch Gardens’ operations staff. The track, the coaster cars, the ride’s electronic safety interlocks and the physics of the ride itself are among the many checks performed to prepare the ride for the public.

The testing also validates the park’s standard operating procedures established to ensure the safe operation of the coaster. Park operators have spent the past several weeks finalizing ride procedures, learning the coaster’s sophisticated control system and practicing shutdown and recovery procedures to ensure the ride and the team operating it are prepared for the millions of guests who will enjoy riding Verbolten over its lifetime.

The final aspect of the ride testing program involves the use of special “water dummies” that are secured in each of the coaster train’s 16 seats and simulate the actual ride experience. That is closely followed by actual ride testing by park employees, who are the first to experience the new coaster before it opens to guests.

“By the time we allow people on the ride, we are confident that the coaster is ready for service,” said Mark Pauls, Busch Gardens’ vice president of operations. “We can’t wait for everyone to experience this one-of-a-kind roller coaster. It’s truly a special ride”

Verbolten is the capstone attraction of a two-year rejuvenation project in Busch Gardens’ Oktoberfest village. Mäch Tower, the park’s 240-foot drop tower, joins the launch coaster as the park’s newest thrill attractions. They join an award-winning pretzel restaurant and new performance spaces that also opened in 2011

I have been in contact with a girl outside the rife and she said if there ever was an incident they wouldn't be allowed to report it unless the park made a public press release.

This X1000.

I'm not sure you could even call it a conspiracy. The fact is that as mouths of the park, Employees aren't supposed to share information that the park does not formally announce or can already be seen at the park.

RE: Verbolten

I agree that the conversation should move on from the accident, it is what it is and at this point and it doesn't really matter anymore. The park is moving forward with testing and looking to open on time. So, no more need to discuss, no more need to ask the people working out front about it. We put up some awesome new pics and a video, we should move on from the accident.

RE: Verbolten

Verbolten looks butter smooth, and that final drop is a sweet lateral-G delight. I don't want to hear (but I know I will hear from the KD/Cedar Fair fanboys/girls) complaints about 53MPH being too slow, or 88-feet being less than Kingda KA. This is a special treat unique in so many respects, and it's going to wow us in many ways, to kids from 1 to 92. :p

Afterall, can you name any theme park that has a smashed Porsche with a live vine out front of the queue? ;)

nope... All of the people that have ridden are zierer people, next are executives, then paid employees... We do know that Busch is looking for riders May 17 for the media day, but that's it... Plus, usually soft openings are not planned far ahead, maybe a day or two in advance, and V is simply not ready for it yet

RE: Verbolten

I'm a kd fanboy :p. I don't complain because I know that its Busch Gardens and there in desperate need of a new ride. This ride will still be amazing no matter what happens just because it is what it is. I can't wait to ride on that drop track!!!! I think everyone here I'm pretty sure has never been on a drop track considering there is only 3 in the world (thirteen, polar express (i think thats the name), zeirer designed it and is opening this year, and verbolten. Who can't say this ride won't be awesome in some way/shape/form.

RE: Verbolten

One of my friends who works at BG has told me she is getting paid to ride Verbolten May 15th

The park has not yet released any details to anyone regarding paid employee ride time or soft openings.

More than likely, your friend is just saying that to either one, brag about it or tease you about it; two, they plan on signing up for it as soon as possible; three, the park told them this to give a false trail of information (which has happened previously a few times).

The park has not released when they want employees to ride yet, but they have said that they are in fact looking for riders
