Who typically gets to first people (employees) to ride? Maiden voyage... Engineers? VIPs?

Hopefully not Fabio!

(Those wolves in the event building would not be nice to him ;) )

RE: Verbolten

You can have the first "guests" and the last "guests." The guests that pride themselves on being on Wolf's last journey are sadly mistaking themselves. Employees rode for an addition 60-90 minutes closing night.

Right. I'm wondering who & when the first people (obviously going to be employees) get a ride. I realize they'll likely keep their opinions under wraps but thought maybe our people on the inside might get a report on the down-low...

If employees ride first, you can count on the fact that we will see a ton of information coming from them.

RE: Verbolten

I was on the last ride of the wolf. Screw the employees riding after. I was the last "guest" haha

and psh. it's just gonna be 90sec. remember when everyone was like, "No Carter! It won't be called Verbolten because I just don't like that name and reject how it's a perfect fit for the attraction blah blah blah"? Well. 2 for 2 bi***es. 2 for 2.

RE: Verbolten

Hang on a second, Larry Giles said it would be "you and 16 of your favorite guests." There are clearly 17 seats on each train, that infographic can't be believed. I'm going to wait a couple years and average out the ride times to get the most accurate ride time.

RE: Verbolten

Here's what was happening yesterday (4/5/12) at Verbolten:

2012-04-05_14-53-18_649.jpg

Some weird support-like things on the ground near the crane. No clue what the are for.

2012-04-05_14-57-25_155.jpg

Some more work being done on the Queue. Looks like some blue railing was added.

2012-04-05_14-59-48_898.jpg

Another angle of the work being done by the cranes.

2012-04-05_15-01-44_586.jpg

Work being done on the electrical boxes. It sure was a busy day!

2012-04-05_15-00-42_379.jpg

The station work that was being done. They were working on putting the gates in when I was there.

I guess they are going to keep the structure! Don't see how it is realistic, but it is looking better!

RE: Verbolten

More awesome pictures, thanks! I'm going to go ahead and post a link to the homepage.

PS: If anyone else would like to help provide updates, this is how you do it. ;)

RE: Verbolten

The weird looking supports look like they could be structures for the road signs we've seen in the concept art.

RE: Verbolten

^That would make so much sense!

By the way, thanks Swift!

Edit: I just wanna say that the curves before the building look like they are going to be amazing right after that 0-60 launch in 2 seconds.

RE: Verbolten

I spoke with the employee standing in front of Verbolten today and i asked him what the crane was for and he "claimed" it was for a warning sign that is going in front of the bridge. Kinda like warning bridge is out.

RE: Verbolten

Guest will be the absolute first to ride. An employee ride night is rumored to take place after May 18th, the official opening.

RE: Verbolten

........omg.

No. Guests will NOT be the absolute first to ride. Anyone with any knowledge of roller coasters' openings know that the park executives and the ride's engeniers are the first to ride. It would make no sense at all to ever put the guests on the ride first. Remember Cheetah Hunt's opening? Executives rode first with the people who designed the ride. Busch has always done this and it's standard practices for other parks as well (Six Flags (KingdaKa), Cedar Fair (Millenium Force), etc). If there is an employee ride night it would be similar to an ERT.

I don't mean to call you out like that Party Rocker, but it's your "absolute" assertion that rubbed me the wrong way. :)

RE: Verbolten

Sorry Carter, I always thought it was employees ride first then guests. But I guess the usual is park execs then employee then guests. Still, thanks for that correction. I forgot about that. I remember when Jim (CEO) visited the park and he was supposed to ride Mach Tower. Funny, I don't think he got the chance to yet.

RE: Verbolten

Historically, the park has held employee ride nights prior to media events and openings. For example, employees were riding Griffon weeks before its media day. With Mach Tower, employees were guinea pigs, as it were, the day prior to its opening to give the crew actual people to train with.

It's possible that they'll host an after hours event for employees to ride. But yeah, they'll have VIP's and other employees riding it before the GP. Heck even the first EITA ride was all VIP's (the GM, the Governor, etc). I was in the second group, but first "public" group to ride it.
