Interesting thing I saw today. They mailed out there yearly calenders and on May's page was a big old picture of Verbolten. Think that pretty much clears up any arguments on when the ride will open.

They did the same thing last year with mach tower... we all know how well that turned out... and BTW, late spring has always meant memorial day weekend... I think this will be no different

I'm hoping it has some soft openings the weekend before, I want to take my girls down for their birthdays, really don't wanna do it Memorial Day weekend. I figure they may want to break it in some before the big weekend. I can hope right? :)

RE: Verbolten

Would you prefer a straight thru drop in the event building or one similar to Th13teen (where the track only drops a few feet before dropping the full length)? I think Th13teen's drop is neat in that it tricks you.

They're going to put a shell on the outside, right?

Yup.

Does anyone know if they're gonna do stone veneer as the bridge support?
Like the entrance to the tunnel.

RE: Verbolten

The tunnel entrance looks epic... so does the event building, and the free fall drop, and the super silent launches, and the bridge, and the drop, and well, the entire ride!!!

RE: Verbolten

So im online searching for new and interesting pics of Verbolten, and I come across a site that still has those schematics of the event building up, and saw an interesting little tidbit:

We know that the tunnel leading into the event building will extend 'deep into' the building, as Giles said. There will apparently be another 'tunneled' area on the first braking section inside the building, immediately after the under-banked helix. The schematics seem to show that it will be enclosed. Perhaps during this little braking section, there will be story elements to get the riders excited. Perhaps howling wolves or lightning or vines enchroaching the riders.... we will see.

True Free-fall like V's... BTW, th13teen's drop is powered pneumatically

That's true. I didn't think about that. Well at least this way we won't know when to expect the drop.

I brought this up a little while back but with the thread being as active as it is (not a bad thing), it was quickly burried. You can read my thoughts HERE.

I'm keeping my expectations low and just going to assume we'll be getting cutouts, flashing lights and wind machines in the event building. Although, one does have to wonder why this ride is about 30-50 seconds longer then TH13TEEN (which has a lift hill instead of a launch and multiple switch tracks for going backwards) AND is costing around 25-30 million more (if the rumored budget is to be believed). Both of these facts would suggest something more is happening in the event building and that a greater amount of time then the 20-30 seconds rumored will be spent in there. Despite all this, I'm keeping my expectations low.

Yeah, didn't I say the trains looked great or what. Pictures just don't do them justice.

Skippy, the budget is very high and like it has been said before, this ride is nothing without the special effects and theme. There may be cut outs, some strobe lights, but there will also be much more. Rain should be expected as well, after all, one of the warning is about weather conditions. There will also be special visual effects. Larry said specifically, "visual effects" along with special effects and all that. This leads me to believe, they may use a projection system, or something of the sort. This ride is going to have so many special effects, it will blow your mind.

RE: Verbolten

Don't know if anyone has seen this yet, but the Hampton Roads Show has coverage on the HHT: http://www.wavy.com/dpp/hr_show/reck-on-the-road-verbolten

Also, Larry mentioned the "many thrill pieces throughout the ride." Obviously this means the launch, the drop track, and the final drop, but he also mentioned something in the Black Forest between the launch and the drop track. He states it around 2:00.
You will have a big thrill piece when we launch you into the building. We'll have a big thrill piece as you go through the Black Forest AND our free-fall drop
Any thoughts?

RE: Verbolten

I'm hoping for something big. I really don't think a big peak would be the first airtime hill. Maybe he is referring to the under-banked helix? But that is also known to the public already...

Just a quick point, this is not true. Thirteen's drop is a genuine freefall. Intamin's version is very different to Zierer's but both systems are gravity powered freefall drops.

:)

RE: Verbolten

The helix in the event building will be coupled with some sort of effect, I'm guessing.

RE: Verbolten

i really dont see rain being in the building. i could be completely wrong but i just feel like it would mess up the 'artwork' being placed in the building. plus i think it would make the building kind of muggy. maybe a spray of water like in the 4d rides but nothing more. once again just talking off the top of my head.

RE: Verbolten

there will not be any water in the building...this is confirmed

*other than fire suppression systems
