Also....BGWFansite is totally blowing us out of the water. Who's giving us OUR pics? ;)

They took the idea posted here about flying a helicopter. Someone asked them how they got it, their reply was, "you know how they approve low fly zones in Europe in the air? It's kinda like that"

So yeah, that's who. Plus they probably have people riskier on the inside that any of our sources.

That person was myself :p. but I don't believe there answer at all.

Sort of off topic, but are you guys working on that relationship at all?

Yes, for sometime now. But it takes two to fix a relationship, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg just wants to be a child about it. :-/

Hello, my name is Gavin Lelyn McNabb, and I am an Administrator of the BGWFans Wiki Project. I am writing you in hopes of trying to start some sort of dialogue, with the goal of clearing up some of the "gray areas" in the parks history. Our goal is for people to better understand the rich history that is Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Right now a big question we have is whether or not there was a "Little Nessie" coaster in Scotland. Any help that you can provide will be extremely useful.

Thanks in advanced,

RE: Verbolten

It's not being childish, it's what any company would do. The price of releasing info is no longer getting media access. Worth it? Maybe. The user base decides that.

RE: Verbolten

I'm thinking that they have people who are more riskier than those here. Also, they could just be naive about the situation and not realize the full picture and how serious this is to a person's job. I know what that was like, but then you guys sat me down and we chatted about the issues and you showed me the light. However, in a seriousness, they probably don't understand and if they do they don't care about consequences. I am glad you all explained the full issues at hand to me, I think it was on the chat? I honestly don't think the park gave them those pictures. The pictures don't look like something the park would take, in my opinion. Also, the site is not saying anything other than ridiculous responses like the Big Bad Wolf still works there and took them. I feel very uneasy about that.

Also, Gavin, you might want to try taking the mention of BGWFans out of the email and try again. See if that ever gets a response, sort of like an experiment. Which email gets the faster response?

As far as the relationship between this site and the park, well, I don't think it will ever be fixed anytime soon. It would take a lot for a company to respect and trust a group of people who have released top secret info before and then forgive then and make up. Like Chris said, not getting invited to media events just happens to be one of those things to expect. Really in the end, if the park doesn't trust one fan site but all the others, it really won't hurt them because there are tons of ways to get the info out.

As far as any secret pictures goes, one picture is worth a million words. So I mean you can take a picture of something, or you could just describe it. Just sayin, one is easier than the other.

RE: Verbolten

Sometimes for the greater good of the site, you just have to shut up and sit on information.
On one side of the coin, you have rumors and leaks happening all the time by sites like Screamscape. Bgwfans isn't as big as screamscape. The parks can afford to ignore Bgwfans...you think they ignore screamscape?
It's really a fine line, you build up relationships with the park...build your audience, then when you get so big that you can't be ignored, you run leaks and rumors.

Or you gain an audience by running leaks and rumors, and have no credibility with the parks until you're so big they can't ignore you. Chances are though, with the amount of sites popping up all the time, that won't happen. So it's best to plot along the way you feel best. If you want to run all the rumors and news first...be prepared to be ignored. But if you want to be invited to media events...be prepared to sit on juicy stuff.
Prime example-We all know Universal Studios has Wizarding World of Harry Potter coming. Theme Park Insider broke the story....that was a deliberate leak from Universal. Why? Because Disney was going to announce "One more Disney Day" which would take the travel focus off of Harry Potter. They gave it to Theme Park Insider. Why? Because normally, TPI doesn't run rumors...despite what the owner says...he just doesn't run them unless someone else runs them first. He gained their respect, their trust and therefore had the biggest day in the history of his website.
But as everyone else has said, there will be plenty of sites with pictures, videos and interviews.

RE: Verbolten

So according to the work schedule linked to in the first post and the updates linked to on the first post as well, I came up with this:

5-2-11 ~ Ride Fabrication
5-31-11 ~ Event Building Foundation
6-16-11 ~ Floor Slab
6-28-11 ~ Station; Selective Demolition
9-7-11 ~ Station; Reconstruction
9-10-11 ~ Event Building Foundation Starting
9-26-11 ~ Deliver Event Building Track
9-27-11 ~ Install Event Building Track
10-21-11 ~ Install Event Building Track Almost Complete
10-25-11 ~ Event Building Erection
11-1-11 ~ Deliver Outside Track
11-2-11 ~ Install Outside Track
11-26-11 ~ Station Reconstruction Begins; Event Building Frame; Event Building Track Complete
11-30-11 ~ Station Theme Construction
12-15-11 ~ Deliver 1st Train
1-16-12 ~ Deliver Remaining Trains
1-16-12 ~ Outside Track Complete; 3 Trains On Site
2-9-12 ~ Ride Start-Up and Testing Begins
3-1-12 ~ Hard Hat Tour for Social/Fanatic Media

Park Opening Day ~ Ride Opens

It looks to me as if the park has been working behind schedule for quiet some time now. I wasn't sure if that was established or not. The bold dates are what updates we have, the non bold dates came from a work schedule that you can find a link to on the first post. How far behind would you say they are looking at this?

I am working on a project with this information. This is why I brought it up.

RE: Verbolten

Yes, it is fair, but I wanted to point that info out because some people may forget it and it is vital info, that info combined with tomorrows updates will give us an idea of how off or close they are to the original schedule. By the original schedule they should be full into testing by now and finishing things up.

EDIT: I know some of you think the park released those pictures to BGWFansite on purpose; however sources tell me BGWFansite has been getting complaints from the park to cease and desist orders for almost a week now.

Considering that they have testing underway, a full month until full opening and just about 3 months until Memorial Day...I'd say they're not far behind at all.

RE: Verbolten

Well think about how they started out compared to their schedule. What I mean is, how far behind did they get, and how long did it take them to catch up, or are they really doing full testing and not behind? It is interesting to think about.

Compare it to other builds of the same magnitude....They are right on par with Griffon

I don't think it really matters considering they've already got at least one train on the track and they're already working on the bridge.

All they need to do is finish testing and add theming inside the building.

Wild Eagle and Swarm are the only other 2012 coasters that are this far into construction already.

Definitely evident in the fact that they took down EVERY picture of Verbolten they had, as you can see here.

EDIT: For those who didn't "like" them on Facebook, this is your link.
