Did they show you the trains up close?

No the trains were tarped and hidden from view. They wouldn't even confirm the colors of the trains.

Did you get to see the coaster run? Also did you get a demonstration of the drop track?

It was not running while we were there but they did confirm that they are testing it full circuit right now. And no we did not see the drop track test. Never will.

RE: Verbolten

I just returned from the Verbolten Hard Hat Tour. It was awesome and a few unknown things came up. I will try to have a Photo TR up sometime later today or tomorrow.

Until then, Here are a few new facts.

-The 5th train arrived at the park today, though the park refuses to release it's color.
-The helix inside the event building was designed so that there will be .5 lateral G forces along with positive g forces.
-The ride is the most expensive ride to date for BGW, and one of the largest capital investments to date company wide. (Though Larry Giles declined to reveal exactly how much.)
-There will be a full 1.8 seconds of airtime as you crest the first hill after the launch as you enter the the building.

WVEC channel 13 news was there and interviewed me (Kyle) and I believe, based on the other news crews I saw there, they will have the most extensive coverage of Verbolten tonight. Anyone wanting a sneak peak can follow me on twitter if they wish @snowboardrace.

snowboard83 over at TPR gave a nice overview of the hard hat tour. Click here

Also BGW's also released a few more pics - Clicky

Can somebody clarify what's happening here?

That's inside the queue house. Everyone is just videotaping Larry Giles talking.

looks like they could be in the queue building...on a side note, im really liking the entrance wall to the event building. though i think they shouldve had a full wall instead of half of one, but the theming is really nice :)

RE: Verbolten

I am going to guess that Larry said late spring because, even though we are on schedule now, things can change... very fast... plus, it always seems better when something is opened "before schedule"

I saw "wind" mentioned as a special effect, anything else?

They were so tight lipped on any effects you'll see inside. They said "no comment" when asked about what type of fog machines will be used. Very secretive tour

RE: Verbolten

i don't think there are fog machines in this at all. I never once heard about there being any type of fog. There might be misters at best.

As for the opening date, marketing kept Larry hush hush for the opening date. He did say however that the timeline for the ride would be systems and lunch tests during March with theming being installed and April will be solely working on finishing theming and testing the entire ride with everything operationg and May would be finalizing things.
