RE: Verbolten

I would say that the park does read this site, but they aren't too favorable of many things. I suppose this site spoils their surprises, with all the rumors that float around here. I would get upset too if I was trying to keep something secret and people spread rumors about it and ruined the surprise.

RE: Verbolten

Wow, it looks like that video was made using Google Sketch-up... Not so great of quality, but at least their advertising...

RE: Verbolten

They know that we are some of their toughest critics... They want us to be as suprised or even more suprised than the gp

RE: Verbolten

Tell that to the government... Lol

Back on topic

I am personally hoping that Busch will add going into the event building with the lights on (and perhaps running Vebolten while we are in there) to the coaster tour... Thoughts?

RE: Verbolten

That would be cool if they ran the coaster while we were inside a lit building, but I doubt they would due to safety reasons. I've not been on the coaster tour, though, so I probably wouldn't know what they do there, but I've seen videos and it doesn't seem likely. I saw TPR's backstage tour of Revenge of the Mummy and they didn't run it while they were in the spaghetti bowl.

Also, concept art has hinted at the drop element in the building being themed to a sort of ravine, and plans have shown huge hand-like things in front of the drop. Considering what colors glow under blacklight, I'm thinking that the hands might be green and painted to look like dangerous vines grabbing the car. I'm visualizing a lot of road signs that don't glow on that turn before the drop, and possibly a breaking "Road Closed" sign in front of the drop. I'm going to guess that there are fake ravine walls on either side of the drop that are painted a color that glows under blacklight. Hope that made sense, I'll try to draw it.

RE: Verbolten

Well that and if we expose all their secrets, think about competitive parks? If hey get a hold of some of their secrets, they can plan for anything and become better parks :(

^Exactly why they frown upon things getting out before hand. They lose a competitive advantage.

RE: Verbolten

Before we leave this subject, lets remember something: The park cut off all communication with the site long before the Verbolten leak happened. If they had kept some kind of relationship with the site prior to that leak, we would have happily listened to any concerns they had and probably would have followed their recommendations. We never heard anything from them until that DMCA notice came months later. If the park wants to try to start over with us, we're all for it but they have to realize something: They can't micro-manage us just like we can't micro-manage them. It has to be a give-and-take on both sides. It's no secret that we provide a massive amount of free publicity for the park and it's no secret that our ability to do so depends on leaks. Single-park enthusiast sites like BGWFans have to fight to stay alive in a sea of larger, more well known, all-encompassing enthusiast sites. How do we do that? Exclusives. We need content to set us apart from the crowd. Without it, this site and this community will eventually die- taking with it the huge amount of free advertisement we give. If the park wants a say in what this exclusive content is, that's fine, they just have to realize that if we're passing up releasing something like, say, the Verbolten plans, we're going to need some replacement content.

Also, frankly, the competitive advantage defense is BS. They were forced to give the layout of the coaster way before we released those plans at the JCC Planning Commission meeting. The only real info those leaked plans provided was a false name, a vague theme, and that it would have drop track. When did we actually release the drop track plans? On the same day that the drop track was being installed at the park.

RE: Verbolten

I agree with Swiftman's point. This site helps the marketing department even if they cut off all communication with the site. We are talking about the park one way or another and that's what they want. How do you think I and everybody else has found this site it's called search engine like Google.

I was told a long time ago that two park employee's were fired over the new construction last year. But this happen long after the plans were released at the JCC Planning Commission meeting. I guess the park wasn't ready to leak this out, so they give these employee's their walking papers. I guess the park wanted to let the other employee's know that they are not playing around. But, this doesn't prevent someone posting or talking about over the internet.

But, I don't think general public really cares about this internal stuff that we are talking about and all they want is to ride a new coaster in the spring.

RE: Verbolten

Are you saying you heard that someone was fired over the Verbolten plans being leaked? If so, I'm willing to bet you it was the person/people responsible for the watermarked Verbolten concept art on ThemeParkReview a while back- the one that they left up even after we told them that people would probably be fired over it if the park found out. To my knowledge, there's not a single person involved with this site who has ever been identified, let alone fired, by the park.

I'm not going to bet you on this one:D, because I didn't see concept art on ThemeParkReview.

My info came from someone who used to work for the park in the 2009 season and worked several seasons before that and also continues to talk to the current employee's. He got his info from someone who currently works at the park full-time and was close to the knowledge of the firings.

RE: Verbolten

I heard some one got fired because of the plans... One of my friends at Busch did a little digging and found out that someone did get fired soon after the plans were released as it was a violation of the Busch media policy
