RE: Verbolten

I for one will not stand for breaking park policy!

Anyone who condones Carter's actions should be ashamed!

I don't condone them, I just find them extremely entertaining. :D

Normally I'd try to push this thread back on topic, but you know what? There's nothing to talk about. AoenOne and I were talking about this in the BGWFans Chat Room (see signature) and we came to the conclusion that the marketing department does nothing. If they were doing their job, I'd say that about 70 or 80% of the people in the area should know that something is coming to the park. Right now I'd put my estimate at around 10%. How many of those people know anything about the ride? Maybe 2%. The park has failed at marketing this ride. Why do people have to go to the park and scan a QR code just to watch a construction update? Why aren't these updates and videos being posted to their Twitter and Facebook? Where's the album on their Facebook page dedicated to construction pictures? Where's the POV, off-ride videos, etc? Radio and TV ads? Billboards? They have failed. I imagine that most of the maybe 2% that know something can probably be traced back to this site. Why on earth is a fansite who lives off donations and our own out of pocket money the only ones advertising the ride while there's a whole department at the park who's getting paid for this? It's ridiculous.

RE: Verbolten

Carter: Wasn't really trying to tell you want to think, but I was struck by how people were reacting to it.

As of right now, I'm willing to give the park the benefit of the doubt and say they're really going to start marketing this ride once CT is done. They should seeing as it's the first of it's kind in the US.

RE: Verbolten

Haha, how are people reacting to it PzP? Encouraging me to break the rules? ;)

And yeah....the marketing for the park is painful. Using B&M track in the promos, marketing saying MT was open when it wasn't, etc etc. I want to go work for them and fix it....But I'm guessing they're letting Six Flags have their fun before they do a big push in Q1. To me though it looks like they don't have much faith in the ride if they're not even talking about it.

RE: Verbolten

The theming in the queue looks like it will be better than the theming in the ride....

RE: Verbolten

I'm mad 15 seconds of the video was watching them put a windshield on a 911 targa....thanks for the in depth look...*rolls eyes*

I doubt it. When your moving at 30-40 miles an hour in tight confined spaces you dont need all to beas detailed as you do when people will actually be walking through the attraction. The fact they are actually going that detailed with the queue tells us something. And at least a good chunk of change of the budget had to be pumped into themeing.

RE: Verbolten

I think the theming might be kind of cool, actually. I'm guessing those old-fassioned TVs are going to be the queue line televisions that "warn us not to go into the Black Forest."

RE: Verbolten

Well I just realized if this ride ever rolls back on the 2nd launch that would be scary since the track literally ends because of the drop track. Now I know your thinking thats what brakes are there for. Well There are times were those things do fail. So then what happens. Are there going to be the physical friction brakes and the magnetic launch fins used as brakes also? I am just wondering.

The old TVs aren't going to be on, they're just props, the queue line TVs are flat screens in decorated frames.

What are the frames going to look like? Are they up yet or something?

Oh god that is a scary thought. o_O. Im pretty sure they will have a special safety feature to prevent that from happining ( take Th13teen for example the track after the drop track is sloped, preventing that from ever occuring).
To answser your question, i think the magnetic launch fins would be used, as they are slightly more reliable than friction break( at least in my opinion)

RE: Verbolten

But if you think about it also with the plans that chris and swift put out but are no longer on the site one of the launch pictures had something in between the fins. Sooo thats what gets me how there going to slow down the train in case of rollback.

Keep in mind that modern roller coaster braking systems are fail-safe, meaning that the brakes' resting positions are either up or closed. They require pneumatics to either open or retract.
