RE: Verbolten

I don't get it man. You say the same stuff every time. Time to move on. Let verbolten be verbolten. it doesn't need to be bbw2. I'm sorry that bbw is gone, but it ain't coming back.

^Well you need to pick up the shattered pieces of your life and move on! :p j/k

Seriously though. You need to try and get over the removal of BBW. Nothing is gonna bring it back and your constant references to it with the installation of Verbolten is starting to make you look pathetic. It's time to move forward and let BBW rest in peace!

RE: Verbolten

Guys. I'm going to say it: Big Bad Wolf was fun. It was kind of awesome. It had a lot of nostalgia attached to it. But it wasn't an awesome ride. Get. Over it.

The drop over the Rhine is an ingenius nod to the BBW that only coaster lovers like us or people previously attached to the ride would get. More rides should do it. Will it be better? Probably, so yes, of course they're trying to "out do" the ride before it. What would you want? If the ride replacing it didn't try to out do you'd say, "Boooo this is trash!" If the ride didn't have the same drop you'd say, "Boooo the drop on the wolf utilized the terrain the best way and this new drop is trash!" The only thing that would please you is if they brought back the wolf. But here's the thing...

The wolf is gone, and something better is going in its place. That doesn't discount the wolf's appeal or its special place in my heart, but it's happening. And I don't think Unagi IS joking: move on. Let's remember the wolf fondly but also appreciate the awesomeness that this ride is turning out to be (like, holy crap, the size of that event building!).

RE: Verbolten

Well said Carter. And I agree. Look, Ive lived in Tidewater area ALL my life. Gone to Busch SOO many times. Ridden the Wolf COUNTLESS times. But to be honest, as I got older, and they added Apollo and Alpy, I STOPPED riding the BBW, because as Carter said, it just wasnt that thrilling. I would only ride BBW if I was at Busch with someone who hadnt been before, or with some kids or something. Other than that, I left it alone.

Now I ALWAYS admired that final drop while watching from the bridge. That was a very well placed drop. And it advertised the ride so well to those walking past, as if beckoning....

So Im glad that they are using the old drop, and perhaps it wont be as exciting since the train will be ABOVE track, but we dont know. We must wait and see...

Wait, Big Bad Wolf is gone?

I caution all of us to resist urges to compare this to BBW when April comes around. Stark differences exist, and saying that this ride "doesn't pay homage to the Wolf, or doesn't have as good a drop, or doesnt barely miss any village themeing, or doesn't inch into the station three times before final de-boarding" is not the commentary I'll be expecting to hear from such seasoned coaster aficionados as ourselves. ;)

"Ob la di ob la da, life goes on!" Verbolten's time has come. BBW, we still adore you.

On a side note, I still can't help but think that Busch would have done well to have moved Wilde Maus to a different spot and kept it. With a mild rehab and new paint, that would have still been a neat little ride to enjoy in addition to all that we have now. Just my 2 cents of worthless commentary fueled by strong coffee...

RE: Verbolten

^There's a chance I might be going. I usually go down to Orlando for Food & Wine fest at EPCOT and IAAPA usually happens right after that. I have a friend that works in the industry that usually gets me in. However I've yet to find out if he's working his company's booth this year.

RE: Verbolten

Is anyone able to take pictures for a construction update this week for the main site? It would especially be nice to see pictures from the right side of the hole next to the line for Bitten.

Busch did keep it, just not at the same park. ;) www.rcdb.com/455.htm

Ha I remember BG Europe, it just would have been nice to have seen it moved 200 feet over, perhaps where all of those money-pit games are located next to DarKastle. That was easily a favorite of mine then.

Remember the days when BG sold posters for their coasters in the gift shops? Maybe Verbolten will restart the trend for the sake of the younger folks, or CarterGee, who loves the Verbolten logo with a passion. :p

RE: Verbolten

...So I spoke to Zeirer, obviously they wouldn't tell me anything about Verbolten, but I did find out they don't manufacture the launching mechanisms, that's some other company who's name escapes me.

They said that they love working with Busch and are excited about the future of the company. I hope they go on to do some more interesting stuff. I got their brochure, but the most interesting thing in it is Wicked.

If you fancy reading my full report I've starting it over on CoasterForce. http://www.coasterforce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=761423#p761423

Just buy a ticket! Though on the form it asks who you are and what business you have going. Technically I did have business going, but I'm sure you could get away with putting anything down tbh.
