RE: Verbolten

we actually know some stuff...but I was referring to pandora's post of the this thread has been hijacked...

RE: Verbolten

A drop track is a drop track, all that happens is you stop and drop and get going again, it's nothing big, and I don't see how one company can makes their better than another.

RE: Verbolten

The problem with the drop track is it's not truly a "free fall." From the looks of the pictures of the segment, it seems like they are using an industrial one of these, which sorta gives a free fall sensation. I've used one of them before (obviously smaller than what Verbolten has) at the National Whitewater Center in North Carolina. They had this thing called the "Mega Jump" which used the PowerFan system, and it did feel a little like a free fall, but you could tell you were being held back by something. I have a feeling it will be the same for Verbolten, just on a smaller drop... The thing I did it off of was almost 50 feet tall and it wasn't all too thrilling. Don't get me wrong though, this type of a thing on a coaster is definitely different, and it sounds awesome!

Also, the cables you could see in the pictures of the system before, if my theory is correct about the industrial size PowerFan system, would be used for that.

RE: Verbolten

No, actually that's for lifting the track back up. Verbolten and whatever that other one is in Europe will be the first coasters with TRUE drop track. It's literally a piece of coaster track on 4 mini drop towers.

RE: Verbolten

did you guys see anything in the plans that suggested large upward facing fans under or beside the drop track?

RE: Verbolten

if you look at the animated video of the drop track it shows a "catch car" lowering once the track was locked into place so im guessing this is how its going to work starting from the down position. the motors are going to turn the catch car is going to hit the drop track lift it up then the track will lock into place with something. then the catch car moves back down with the track still in the air. then once the train hits to sensor or whatever the locks release starting the free fall and train moves forward launch and repeat.

You have the right idea. From what I saw in that video (the non animated part) you see flat plate at the top of the cross member that the drop track lift hits. But, it's hard to see if this is part of the catch for the drop track lift.
When the drop track lift drops it is slowed down by permanent magnets, which you can see is easy in the video.

Not exactly what I was implying, but its too much to explain my theory. Apparently it's wrong anyways.

I saw a YouTube video showing the concept drawings for the ride and didn't see anything about a fans beside the drop track.

BTW, this video had the BGWFans watermark on this video.

^ For the record, it's not our video- someone just took the pictures, put them in a slideshow, and dropped them on YouTube.

RE: Verbolten

It would be cool to use the same air blast effect like on darkastle and use it during the drop track, it's basically a bunch of compressed air.

That's what I tough.

Now, on to the event building part of the topic. Is, it going to be being air condition or not. I think the area where the track is may be setup like this. They may use a air handler that brings in 100% outside air to cool it down to near 74 degrees. But, they will be exhausting around or near the same bit of air that they bring in, since the area where the track runs through will be open all the time and since it is considered industrial environment.

RE: Verbolten

The event building does not have AC, it does have a lot of ventilation, but not climate controlled.

RE: Verbolten

^you are probably right because if you look at pictures of the event building covered there are little sections cut out at the bottom that could be used for that.
