RE: Verbolten

So I don't know if it is really important or if anyone is really keeping up with it, but the first post of this thread doesn't include the link to the most recent video and the drop track pics. (Intended for Swift, Chris, or ScoutN)

RE: Verbolten

^ Thank you very much for pointing that out. Added. In the future though, if someone sees something that needs adding, just PM me- probably best not to clutter up this thread. Thanks!

RE: Verbolten

^Welcome, and will do.

So do we actually know how the drop section is going to work? It looks to me like it involves cables, pulleys, and fans. I know that there are two fans at the bottom (looks like they work the same way this does: http://www.powerfan.co.uk/ , just on a much larger scale). Any commentary from the experts?

RE: Verbolten

It will work exactly like a drop tower. The part in the middle that goes around and over the track lifts it from the bottom position to the top position. The track is then dropped back to the lower position. The track is slowed by magnets and is stopped by shock absorbers. Basically, each of the four outer legs work like miniature drop towers and the middle contains the lift mechanism.

RE: Verbolten

Ok, makes sense, but where do the pulleys and fans come in??

^ looks pretty interesting. Checked out the forum about it at themeparkreview.com and apparently the manufacturer is also Zierer. Roughly the same size drop track segment too.

RE: Verbolten

Here are a couple of pics I got yesterday. Things seem to be moving right along. They also have most of the footers formed from the station to the event building.

Swift! Chris! Pics Please!

I'm trying to get there today (I know I'm crazy). If I do, you can expect a nice photo update. It's been a long time since I've been able to go.

RE: Verbolten

Wow, it's progressing quicker than I thought. I can't wait 'til this thing opens!

RE: Verbolten

Wow, the track gets extremely close to the ground in the event building. And nearly a 90 degree tilt on that helix... me gusta!
