RE: Project 2018: Twisted Timbers

Glad to hear that Twisted Timbers is a wild and fun roller coaster once the temperature warms up. Surprised by the mixed reactions on social media.

RE: Project 2018: Twisted Timbers

Full review coming later. I just want to say that the forces on this coaster are INSANE and bizarre. This may be premature, but I think Twisted Timbers is my favorite coaster in Virginia.

The theming is also spectacular, carefully thought out and executed, and immersive- at least by Kings Dominion standards. That is why I was absolutely heartbroken that modern pop music is playing in the plaza and queue. Absolutely destroys the impressive, ominous environment the park has created.

I got walk of shamed after waiting for an hour and a half so that’s fun.  Back to American Family Firness for another year I guess......

I feel.for you I thought I might have to make it myself as it didn't lock at first but the op was able to push it tight.

I hope that they add IMAscore down the road.

This ride is amazingly photogenic. Even from within the qeue. I’ve almost never seen anything like it before. Just about anything within eyeshot of the ride is a photo waiting to happen.

RE: Project 2018: Twisted Timbers

So...gut first reactions to Tweisted Timbers:
Seats are a hair uncomfortable. The backs don’t lean back at all, so it puts you in a slightly uncomfortable postition. Although I will say at 6 feet, 235 lbs....it was roomy!

For the ride itself, I was sitting middle back, inside seat, and it’s 45 degrees out. Exits nicely, comes off the lift a little quicker than I thought. That barrel role dive drop is one of the most intense drops I’ve been on. And even though you see it, it still catches you by surprise.

The first overbank is awesome. The three airtime humps on the first “back stretch”. O.M.G. It somehow combines ejector and floater air. I don’t know how it does that but it does. The stall inverted turn at the far end. That was the best element. The airtime hills coming off of that were fantastic. There’s no describing it. The in-out-in bank turn through the lift hill might be the greatest airtime element in the mid-Atlantic. The barrel roll is just the right speed. Fast enough to be done in a blink, not slow enough to go on forever. Somehow picks up speed off of that element.

This is my 5th RMC.....and it’s the best one. (Steel Vengence to come later this year)

RE: Project 2018: Twisted Timbers

2 more re-rides before calling it a day and heading to BGW:
The in-out-in banked right turn is my favorite element. I don't know what exactly to call it, but it's really the element IMO on this ride. It's just un-explainable how that element feels. I know Steel Vengence has the exact same element, but U think that being early in the right, and a bigger turn with less speed (theoretically) it's not going to feel close to the same. I think this is going to be like Lightning Rod's triple down. Just won't be replicated.

Next is the drop. Like the other element above....it can't be described the sensation. It's almost like you get airtime 'falling out' and the seat catches you at the bottom of the hill. The reason why this element goes #2 is that there's another RMC with the same, so it's not as unique.

Lastly is the triple camel backs. So. Much. Air. Time. Great opening stretch to go barrel drop, speed hill, overbank, speed hill, triple camel back.

I suppose I will need to hope there's a ride attendant at the test seat tonight as I will be by myself and unable to shove.
I didn’t see a test seat at the event today, but hopefully they’ll have one up soon!

Just got word that RMC hasn't shipped the test seat yet. Not sure when they're expecting it but if I hear something I'll post an update.

RE: Project 2018: Twisted Timbers

They’re saying it’s closed for the day now. Blue train is stuck halfway out of the station. Bummer.

On the bright side, they’re playing 50s music in the area.

RE: Project 2018: Twisted Timbers

I think I may have a realized a potential issue with my attempt to fit. I was wearing a size 40 pear of jeans all the way up to my waist which was a bit snug but not necessarily "tight" but I was also wearing a belt that was definitely constricting my waist possibly enlarging and making my lower belly fat more firm. I may go back and try again once the test seat gets there and see if I can go wearing gym shorts. Sidenote: my apologies to those who are potentially annoyed by this constant discussion I've been overanalyzing this (while staying in the gym) for months.

I think you'll be fine, especially when we hit summer and you're wearing less layers. I wear a 38 jean, had on a hoodie and a jacket, and fit in there alright.

That's OK, now I'm looking forward to your post when you do get to ride it.

The speed hills and big airtime hills are just the elements KD needed. I don't see the pacing complaints, it blows away old Hurler in that regard.

(Side note: Twisted Timbers really drew everyone away on Friday. I got a walk-on on I305 and was completely alone on FoF.)
