We still have no proof re: lower wages. @Coasternerd claims the opposite of @bgw enthusiasts. I'd hold your fire for now on that bit.
So I’m going to preface my statement by saying I believe we need a federal wage transparency act.

Ok with that out of the way.

I poked around SEAS open job board. In the open apply for positions like this I didn’t see anything about pay in there. Then there’s these two screen shots:

Bartenders are GTD $18/hr if tips don’t cover that.

Then there’s the general food and beverage ambassador:

$15/hr, says nothing about the tips.

So despite this being in the plans for a little while now they haven’t updated their job listings to reflect that there’s tipping now.

So here’s where my wage transparency belief comes in: they need to share that for someone applying. Are they working for $15/hr no matter what basically? If enough tips come in could they make more than $15/hr?

Who wants to apply and find out? Lol

My major concern is that PRKS will apply the bartender tipping scheme to all food service employees now. Doing so would mean that, effectively, tips go almost entirely to the corporation, not the employee (as tips would be used to cover the gap between the tipped minimum wage and the guaranteed rate of $15 an hour) rather than paid out on top of normal wages.

We're in a holding pattern until documentation comes out though. Frustrating since this really could be a huge story.

By huge story, this needs to become a major news station (national) story. The absurdities of tipping plus a 5% surcharge.

It is also a huge change to the culture. Tips normally go to the person serving you for their service. When the tips are pooled, the person offering good service is rewarded equally with those who don't, if anyone gets them. Also, there is bill currently up for review as of this month, “Tax Free Tips Act of 2024,” which aims to eliminate federal income and employment taxes on service workers’ tips.

Is the tip calculated based on the fee pre-service/tax or post? I got hit with one that was $20 before tax and fees, $32 after, then they gave me options of 20, 25, 30% on the $32 not the $20 AND there was no Custom option.
