Boardwalk expansion. The one that matters because it's one of the last significant additions they will make without significant ride losses. There is something in the cooker.
I don't think relocating the water park ever was/is on the table. Relocating Midway America would have been the best option, but with Wildcat's Revenge being recently done it might take quite some time to come to that conclusion. We'll see what they do, but that'd be a great way to further expand the very busy waterpark. Would prob crush the dreams of the people who remain clinging onto the pipe dream of them relocating the water park across the street.
@the_pantsmith I'm not disliking that you posted this (because it is a nicely done concept), rather the concept of a coaster being in the last Boardwalk expansion area is a misstep. Not my concept, but something like this would be awesome
Don’t think it’s so likely. Waterpark is popular but doesn’t need THAT much room right now especially if Tidal Force’s site gets used. Having the coasters there right now is more valuable than another seasonal slide tower or two. Only way I can clearly see it is if Tidal Force is completely replaced by a coaster and Hershey decides to grow the Boardwalk into a huge second gate waterpark. It makes me sad to think about but does anyone else see a future where Lightning Racer is removed to make room for further waterpark expansion?
Care to elaborate?I have seen firsthand that Hershey was looking into another major dry park addition, one not water ride related. I don’t know if this is it or if that’s even going ahead, but we shall see.
No insider information on this but more speculation from friends I have that cover the park, but more likely you would see them go to one side operations, do a full Titan track conversion, or allow GCI to do some other work.It makes me sad to think about but does anyone else see a future where Lightning Racer is removed to make room for further waterpark expansion? It's in sort of an isolated spot, takes up a lot of room inside the water park area and probably costs a good amount to maintain / retrack. Couple this with the lower ridership due to it being in the back of the park and its unfortunately a sensible proposition.
I wonder if boardwalk would be better off if it was built somewhere else like on another piece of land

Don’t go acting like you’re special, that’s how waterparks work. The secret however is a modest amount of tubes per slide to keep most of your wait at the bottom. That way the line will moderate itself at a slightly full couple of switchbacks and not grow to insane lengths. Or you can do the Saint-Sauveur method of having a hundred tubes at a single flume and a line hidden from sight. But I digress. And have lines for the tubes and mats just to go wait in line for the actual slide.
I mean, next year is the twentieth anniversary of the water park area opening (as crazy as that may be).Boardwalk expansion. The one that matters because it's one of the last significant additions they will make without significant ride losses.
EDIT: Thinking more in depth a little here too - it's going to do a nice job of connecting the OG part of Boardwalk with the wave pool area.
This is my ideal scenario. They desperately need waterpark expansion and (.::.prepares for incoming tomatoes.::.) Lightning Racer is mid at best, realistically like a 3/10 coaster. It makes me sad to think about but does anyone else see a future where Lightning Racer is removed to make room for further waterpark expansion? It's in sort of an isolated spot, takes up a lot of room inside the water park area and probably costs a good amount to maintain / retrack.
